Notae wasn't the player this year than last year. Going from the SEC sixth man winner to the SEC leading scorer was an unrealistic expectation and out of the blue. Davis had his sophomore slump before SEC play. He couldn't cut as a starter and now his best production is coming off the bench. If losing both of them were to happen then yes it would hurt but losing Moses Moody, Justin Smith and Jalen Tate were worse before this season began.

It’s really funny, that in previous years it was all Wade is nothing but an offensive coach and he can’t coach defense. Now it’s flipped to he can’t coach offense. The only clear thing is every other fan base hates Wade.

We’ve been through this. There isn’t one, and I’m not paying to join 247.

It's free to not post in our threads. Or how much is 247? Maybe we take up a collection and help the poors.

Lack of effort and stupidity against lesser opponents.

Definitely a re-building type year for Arkansas talent-wise. Musselman has coached these boys up, though.

I'm excited to see what he does with next year's class.

I'm just trying to equate essentially losing your 2 best guards with the ball in their hand what happens. We los tour best guard (equivalent to Ark losing Notae) before the season started. Then Pinson we lost for several games in SEC schedule and even when he's been back he's been off a bit. So take off our next best guard/ball handler after Notae away.

Those were the 2 guards Wade trusts the most with the ball in their hands...after that we dont have much. Gaines is the next guy up and plays entirely out of control when he has to give extended minutes at PG. His "role" on the team was basically supposed to be defensive energy replacement off the bench at guard and he suddenly was forced into playing 30-35 minutes a game running the point.

We entered preseason with 4 scholarship guards ready to play, and a 5th on a redshirt. By the time the season started we were down to 3 scholarship guards good to play with 1 redshirting. Then when Pinson got hurt, we were down to 2 scholarship guards good to play forcing us to take the redshirt off a kid who should still be in high school and was recovering from injury still to play. Just hasnt been an ideal situation. If it was a bench guy or two that got hurt (sans Eason obviously), it wouldnt have hurt nearly as much as losing our 2 best guards.

Quite the opposite. I think of Arky as the Purdue or Northwestern of the SEC. We always seem to play down to y’all in every sport and it’s really embarrassing.

I think Wade will be fine long term, needs to find some assistants to help cut down on some of the sloppy play with good drills in practice. Shaq's kid needs more playing time, that's a head scratcher there, the huge arse 5 star kid looks lost out there.

Really shitty take on Gaines. Yes, his role was to be a defensive energy guy and he got thrust into a much more important role. And he has clearly answered the call. He’s had a few moments where he’s been out of control. He’s also been absolutely key in several wins and lately has been much better with the ball than Pinson. Gaines was really good last night.

I believe Muss tried to replace the offensive production with the transfer portal. It turned out after the 0-3 start that Muss had to put all his efforts on defense or the season would go off cliff fast. Notae unexpectedly blew up and Williams started coming around slowly and other players like Umude began settling in the roles they play.

However Arkansas will upgrade with more athleticism and more offense next year. But if a 13-5/14-4 is considered a rebuilding year then Muss has us where Arkansas fans want them to be.

There's a reason Wade has said over and over and over the team is much calmer and more coordinated on offensive end with Pinson in there (over Gaines). Guys get in better spots and Pinson knows how to run the offense basically. I'm not sure you remember when Pinson was out entirely but with Gaines things just would get so out of control at times it was not pretty. We basically played straight up street ball trying to make big plays constantly and whatnot.

I'm not blaming Gaines there, like I said, his role was supposed to be defensive energy off the bench from the start. He was forced into handling the basketball for 30+ minutes a game with Miller and Pinson out and that's clearly not his strong suit. Almost every game he fla tout just loses the ball while dribbling around on offensive end a couple times. Again, just not the guy we want running the offense for extended periods of time.

Pinson has been rough since he got back still recovering from his knee sprain I will readily admit but Wade isn't wrong in why he likes Pinson out there handling the ball for extended periods of time over Gaines. We went in the season running the offense through Miller and Pinson at guard and when we lost both those guys we just had to start praying basically.

We went from Javonte Smart and Cam Thomas at guard all last year to Gaines and Murray this year, it's just a gigantic drop off.

Eh this season which looked like a banner year 4 or so games into the conference season was derailed by injuries. Nothing really else to it. And even though they are loses the games the last week against Arkansas and Kentucky on the road show we are almost back to where we were before Pinson went down amd Days and Eason got nicked up. Win against Bama and we very well could make a run in the tournament which os all that matters anyway. Tough lose that definitely stings last night but you have to look at the entire picture. It’s all you can do besides tip your hat grit your teeth and move on.

Agreed. When we won the SEC 2 years ago we had a great assistant in Greg Heiar. Also Johnny Jones’ only “good” year at LSU (and I use the term good loosely because we severely underachieved) was the year we had Musselman on the bench.

Gaines has improved significantly, after being thrust into a role he wasn’t at all prepared for (I doubt he got any run at point until Miller blew out his knee in October). He was infinitely better than Pinson last night, zero turnovers in 20 minutes. Pinson had three and that’s without including the 16 missed shots he had. I’ve gotten really tired of people slamming Gaines. It’s uncalled for.
