You have to CATCH the ball on a pass after stepping out of bounds for it to be illegal touching. The rule you are citing isn't even close to being relevant to the play.

If you simply touch the ball while out of bounds, then the ball will be incomplete and out of bounds, as it touched something that was out of bounds.

If someone has possession of the ball, then what matters if it the player possessing the ball is out of bounds. But when the ball is not in possession, such as a fumble or pass - if it touches anything out of bounds, the ball is considered out of bounds and the play is over at the point.

Always been the rule, always will be the rule.

Hell, the fricking ref on TV last night even fully explained what happened and yet following that bit was apparently beyond your mental capabilities.

There are two serious fallacies in this argument that you haven't addressed. The image linked below shows that Greg Brooks of LSU clearly has both hands on the ball with possession while both of his knees are down. This is BEFORE anyone else has touched the ball. If we're "calling by the letter of the rules" that kills the play at that point and it's LSU's ball. Replays showed that Brooks didn't start to lose possession of the ball until after Cameron Latu knocks it from his hands while he's out of bounds. Your own argument states the the play is dead at that point, so again it's LSU's ball as Brooks has possession at that point.

Therefore, you've argued incessantly over a play that has proven you wrong TWICE.

Most impressive.

Any force that comes off the ball in order to push the fingers back is force that is lost, which will result in a trajectory change.

Not necessarily. It was pretty clear the defender’s middle finger bent backwards. There was not a radical change in the ball’s trajectory as you seem to mean. The ball’s rotation slowed and the spiral loosened slightly opening a slight tail wobble.

All of that was available to the reply official. If the letter of the rule is followed, the ball was touched and there should have been no interference call. The rule doesn’t demand a radical change in the ball’s trajectory. Just that it’s been touched.

Evidently the replay official thought as you do. No big change in the ball’s movement? It must not have been touched. Pass interference! Put the ball on the two. First and goal-ALABAMA!

This call and the ridiculous player out of bounds touching the ball contrived fiasco probably had a lot to do with CBK’s decision to go for two. He took the officials’ shenanigans off the table.

Win it all or lose it all on one play.

You people are such clowns. Mr physics expert care to explain the change in rotation if it wasn’t touched?

So did Tennessee.

Refs tried their best to give the Gumps that game, with that bogus PI in the endzone.

Without that, Gumps lose by 10 to Tennessee.

I am one LSU fan that isn’t bitching about the officiating. The video evidence on crucial calls
/no calls is obvious to the world.
For years, Bama has feasted on such behavior by the REC-paid shite striped officials.
The rest of the SEC and most of the country. knows it. Bama fans crying after the TN loss about the penalties was priceless.
The Tigers exposed the Gumps and would not be denied no matter what the officials did.

If you honestly care about what really happened, Wingo said post-game he 100% tipped it and one of the refs on field confirmed to him that he saw it, too.

LSU fans: Bama refs cheat

Actual results: Bama leads the nation in penalties and was penalized more against LSU than their already nation leading average per game.

The call on the fumble was correct by the rule.

The purposefully missed tipped pass was a joke when ref on the field were telling Wingo he saw the tip but its not his call to make. WTF, not the on field ref's call to make. This is why this BS with Gump officiating has life and continues to be confirmed.

Huge missed obvious hands to the face on Perkins on the scramble touchdown by Young.

BK knew what was happening, that is why he took it out of their hands and won the game when he did.
