You must have Alzheimer's because that is exactly what happened. People on this board laughed at the thought of Texas being his preferred job from the get-go. They also were completely ignorant that he got his first job from Mack Brown in Austin.

Herman just thought Texas was a better job than LSU (no argument from me that it isn't. More prestigious (at least historically), easier road to playoffs, etc.). No evidence that it had anything to do with money.

This is a pretty honest, straight forward assessment of it in my opinion, although it leaves out that he had a tie to Texas that likely helped them as well.
That said, it doesn't address the topic, which is LSU fans hating on Herman when the vast majority really, really wanted him last november.

Could be a byproduct of still believing the concept of a coach supposing to want to come to LSU instead of your AD actually working to bring him in. Some fans soured on Herman when it became known that he was waiting on an offer from Texas after it was said that he had a deal in place with LSU.

many LSU fans believe Herman led LSU on, and potentially used the LSU offer to force Texas' hand.

this here.. it's part of the game and rest assured the LSU brass was aware of the leverage play.
Happens to everybody sooner or later, Texas was "used" for pay raises a few times in the last 4 years in football and baseball.

I really wanted Herman at LSU because of his OC background and what he had done at UH. Most LSU fans wanted ANYONE who would bring an offense to Baton Rouge.
When O was announced by "I am the search" I thought the sky was falling, but with Aranda extending and the addition of Canada it looks as if LSU will be in better shape than they've been in a few years.
