Why so excited for Kiffin? I recall all the excitement when you guys got BK out of the state of Indiana. Most of us were just as excited for him to leave as well btw and we know how that worked out. I’m not trying to start anything but really want to understand. Yeah he got Ol Miss to the playoff this year but that is about the best thing he has done as a coach. His stats in big games isn’t great and he does have a ton of baggage.

He’s best play caller in football next to Sean Payton and may be perhaps better than Payton and when lsu has a offense like they have in the past mixed in with iu or osu tough big 10 d then there virtually unstoppable basically besides osu and bama - lsu has produced the most talent ready nfl players in last 25 years but since Saban left to nfl then bama - we’ve settled for avg hc!
But now in a nutshell we have a guy in Kiffin who has all the experience in the world in terms of elite coaching big programs that understands and knows the formula to bring back the magic to lsu.

Sorry our fans get excited for a new coach. We never scored more than 30 points this season against an SEC opponent.
Of course we’re excited to have an offensive minded HC

Ok, look at your reaction to BK getting out of Indiana. Now look at Ole Miss fans' reaction to Lane leaving.
Pretty sure LSU got an elite coach just now hitting his prime.
That's THE hope, anyway. Also, if you had to suffer through watching the fricking horrendous offense we LSU fans had to this year, I think you'd understand a little more.

quote:Its definitely mutual. LSU bought most of the players he wanted in the transfer portal last cycle. He knows LSU is willing to purchase the players he wants. We know the obvious - brilliant offensive mind who lead Ole Miss to four ten win seasons. Mentored by the best - Nick Saban, Pete Carroll, etc. We'll see how it works out, though. You never know.
Why so excited for Kiffin?

Name what Saban, Miles and Orgeron accomplished before coming to LSU?

You don't know what you are talking about. The Kiffin hire is nothing like the Brian Kelly hire. The Brian Kelly hire came out of left field, 99% of LSU fans had no idea he was a serious candidate, and initially the hire was met with mixed reviews, overall LSU fans reacted to Kelly with cautious optimism. He was not known to be a "guru" on offense or defense, he was just considered a solid overall coach.
Kiffin was know from the beginning to be LSU's #1 target(and everyone's #1 target) and is also know to be an offense guru who can immediately fix LSU's offensive issues. The Kiffin hire has been met with 10x the excitement of Kelly's hire.

Go back to the big 10 board. You’re not welcome here.

Actually many of us were not excited about Kelly when he was hired. Most realized that he built his record against weak competition.
Kelly was lazy and was arrogant enough to think he could be a CEO and delegate everything. He made lazy, poor hires throughout his tenure. His roster management was awful. That doesn't work in the SEC.
Kiffin is a hands on guy and super competitive. He took an Ole Miss program that occasionally was a middle of the pack SEC program and made them relevant. It was the SEC, not the Big2G. Kiffin can evaluate talent and connect with young players.
Equating the two is stupid!
Look, IU hit the jackpot with Cignetti but you didn't know that when he was hired. Enjoy it.

Probably half the fans were excited for BK only because at least we knew he brought organization which our 2 previous HC's never had. The other half knew he was never a fit for the south and what LSU met to many fans down here. He seemed to never really grasp any of it honestly. Also knew that BK would live and die by his choices at OC/DC.
Kiffin on the other hand does understand what football means in the south and what it means to LSU fans. He has lived it for the last decade at various stops. Also he knows how to run a program and is a Offensive guru so that eliminates the need to worry about an OC. If he can elevate Ole Miss with their resources just imagine what can be done with LSU's? Many excited because this is the first time LSU has got a guy that really gets SEC football.

I am not so much excited for Kiffin as I am laughing my arse off at how so many people went on and on about how we were never gonna get a coach and listed all the reasons why. I said "wait until we hire a good coach and the board will have to discredit him because they said we would never get a new coach." Now, here we are and that's what's being done. The hottest name in coaching chose LSU over everyone else and all of a sudden he's no longer a good coach.

Yeah. LSU, hell the entire state supposedly botched the hire and embarrassed itself. No way any coach would want this job. Talk about egg on the face of the SECr.
Eat crow and weep, board.
