I can answer this. It all started week 1 when a pissed off Saban, furious with the way his defense finished the Louisville game bit the head off of a female reporter on national tv. This pissed off Miss Terri and she told Saban to apologize and to chill out because of his stress levels. So he let Lupio run the defense and was relaxed and chilled and smiling frequently. He truly was a kinder, gentler Saban. The defense was making mistakes but the offense was so potent it wasn't much of an issue. Then LSU fans led by Carville, pitched the biggest hissy fit in the history of sports. They bought those billboards and Carville accused Bama and the SEC of collusion on espn, and the SECN. This pissed off the Sabans because they know LSU fans well and know they are being accused of corruption. So Nick has been riding the defense's arse in practice like he never has before and the results speak for themselves. So in other words, the better coached more disciplined Bama defense is a direct result of LSU fans and their high profile leader awaking the sleeping defensive coaching GOAT, and the sleeping giant that was the Bama defense. All I have to say to LSU fans is in this gif.
