Yes

There's only one thing that would be unbearable... going 14-0 and losing the NC to a Bama team that backed into the playoffs. It's more likely, at this point, that LSU would face Bama in the semi-finals if LSU is undefeated and Bama gets in, but the net feeling would be about the same.

No. Ohio State, Clemson, Oregon, and Oklahoma are all very good to elite teams. A loss to one of them in the playoffs wouldn’t make the season a failure.
Not winning the SEC would though.

LSU fans clearly consider 14-1 seasons a failure. Especially if the 1 loss is while playing for a national title.
Nah we just enjoyed watching Alabama get embarrassed.

LSU would beat Clemson by at least 10 points.

This is why I miss the old days.
College football is regional. It always will be. We can try to perfect polls, but the fact is, nobody plays the same teams.
Goal number one: win the division
Goal 2: win the SEC
Goal 3: win the Natty
A Heisman is a bonus.

Winning the SEC West absolutely was the goal for this team. That likely always meant beating Bama, finishing the regular season no worse than 11-1, and playing for a spot in the playoff. Pretty perfect season to date so far knowing 2 of those 3 things are going to happen. Being in the dance alone is a much welcome feeling for a program that hasn't played a meaningful game past November 6th in a long time. Winning the whole thing would be enough to make me wait another 8 years for it to happen again.

No, the future is insanely bright. This is a great year, and we will enjoy it. But the future will be even brighter.
