The university recognized Jake on Twitter and that's real cool. Of course, there is always a jackass that says Furniss was a better player. What does that have to do with the record? I could make a case that bats were juiced then but I didn't cause its irrevelant.

There still is an argument Furniss was a better all-around player. That’s not the same thing as LSU fans not being happy for Mangum breaking the hits record. Furniss still holds the all-time home runs record in the SEC and I believe the RBIs record as well. (Edit: also is the career leader in doubles and total bases, 2nd all-time in hits and runs scored, and 3rd all-time in walks). And with all that, he's still not the best player in LSU history.

Athletics departments are claiming national titles. He'll, I'm claiming 1940 & 1941 national titles. If it wasn't for WW2, State would have won them.

Listening now to the podcast of hour 1 of Moscona's show.
At the 40 minute mark he compares Mangum and Furniss.
Says Mangum accomplished the feat in 26 fewer games than Furniss but... Furniss had 20 fewer at bats. Moscona said the difference was due to walks.
Moscona then says he means no discredit at all to Mangum and calls him a sensational player and is batting .400 this year.
Is this what the OP is super salty about?
