Now, I am not happy to hear the talk about his contact with A&M during our bowl preps, but guess everyone has a reason for doing the things they do.
Too much has been made of this.
Chavis found out LSU wouldn't offer assistants extensions longer than 1 year, he wanted security and we offered it.
We had to act fast on Bud Foster as our second choice, so if Chavis wasn't on board we had to know right away.
A couple of 5 minute phone calls didn't hurt Chavis's bowl game prep. The team got outplayed, it happens.

Well Ill just take that as you didn't watch the game. We did not just get outplayed. We were not prepared to play.

Are you really happy with Steele instead of Chavis?
D J W. Nuff said. A&M will soon find out what this means and be just as frustrated as LSU fans were.

There was "crying" because of how he left.
It was easy to see him go because of 3rd and Chavis and his 2 minute drill.
We're high on Steele because he's an excellent recruiter and LB coach.
Our defense won't regress that's for sure. We have every reason to believe it will actually get better with the addition of coach O.
In the past we've had excellent DB coaching.
Now we have excellent DB, LB, and Dline coaching!
Shame on us LSU fans for being optimistic about our defensive future.

Sometimes a great employee can become complacent. And while you respect their core competencies, you realizes that as long as they are there you are only going backward. It's addition by subtraction.
That was the case with Chavis at LSU. He didn't necessarily lose the locker room, but he definitely lost the football operations building. While schematically he is very good, he was also hopelessly deficient in the energy and recruiting departments. His last drive defensive meltdowns were legend and piling up, his defenses became passive up front and it was only going to get worse.
I also think that he was a HUGE NEGATIVE in the building because of his ego. The asshattery of his departure and since, has only REVEALED what has long been rumored. He panics and flails around when his back is against the wall.

LSU is on the brink of a Tennessee type slump.

I thought Chavis was GOAT for a long time, but really started to get fed up with the 2 minute defense.
Had a mini heart attack when Chavis left, but got over it pretty quickly. Started to get really excited about the possibilities for the new DC. Someone who could keep us in games all 60 minutes hopefully.
Had another mini heart attack when we brought on Steele. Couldn't understand how we could look at so many thought would be great here, and then go with the guy we could've had from the get go who didn't really bring much to the table in my opinion.
Was ecstatic when we got DACOACHO.
Jury is still out on Steele. But I'll withhold judgement until I see how we do.

I have been truthful all along. a lot of LSU fans think Chavis shite on us the way he handled his departure and I agree; it was done with no class.
I think this change will be good a everyone; LSU, Chavis and A&M.
the aggies have no way to go but up. Chavis will organize their team much better than it was and will toughen 'em up. in the short run he'll improve them a lot. in the long run not so much.
and that's the truth.

quote:look back far enough through my history of posts and you will clearly see I wanted Chavis gone for a long time. 3rd and Chavis is real and 4th quarter and Chavis is real. Expect sacks to trend down big the longer chavis is in Texas.
But are you really glad there was a change made

Chavis lost the raise he wanted here to Bama. He played his exit like a moron and lost the raise he got from Aggy to us. The guy is an a-hole and a complete neg head. Good coach, not enough to offset the bad chemistry and poor recruiting work rate. And he let Brick coast, schemed to conceal deficiencies on DL.
We have a better situation now, totally good with it and have been from the start. I like coach Steele and O, don't really see the defense losing games for us like it did in '13 and '14.

Just as long as it's not a MSU type slump, we'll be ol.

The whole Chavis/Steele thing will play out and then we'll have a basis for conversation about who got what better.
quote:if / when this day comes it is gonna hurt, more than Chavis leaving ever could IMO
we can just slide him over to take Frank's job.

It's funny how the thread with a few dozen attempts at a legitimate response dies in a few hours but troll threads last for days.
