Congratulations you've been admitted to the TigerRant!
This is exactly the type of thing people say in every Saban v. Miles thread that has ever been started. People want to give Saban ALL the credit for where LSU is today (He deserves lots not all but thats not the point of this post) but give Miles no credit for where OSU is today.
The next line is that Miles could never have rebuilt LSU like Saban did. But the guy did lead a program that had had 1 winning season in the 12 years before he got there to three consecutive winning seasons and 3 consecutive Bowl births. You don't think Gundy built off of that?
I don't know for sure what Miles would have done between '00 and '04 at LSU but what he did at OSU and what he's done at LSU post 2005 is plenty enough evidence for me to think we would have been just fine.
Coach Saban was great for LSU. He's the best there is. But he doesn't Coach at LSU anymore. Why you mad'cause we're happy with the Damn Strong coach who is?

The answer is yes, even at this level you can win a lot of games and a lot of awards just by having better players at most positions than the other team week in and week out.

holy shite, i've seen it all now. a guy who never played a game of college football is now a bust because he was a 1st round pick in the MLB draft and got paid millions.
Football doe

made a 53 man roster last year a had the misfortune of being in a loaded backfield in college. wasn't a bust
I grew up with Michael Ford. He was a collegiate bust. Should have been All-SEC. Regardless of backfield size, he didn't live up to his potential. Bust.

wasn't a bust, had the misfortune of not being better than all the other 4 and 5 star running backs on the roster.
He transferred out = wasted scholarship in that class = bust.

He's just mad that LSU kicks their arse every year. I understand, but he should focus on his own team.

You lost me. We are talking about freeze vs Miles.
I think its obvious that freeze is a better coach SO FAR.
Less can turn it around this year with a great coaching performance, but so far its freeze easily when comparing the 2 head to head.
I know you feel you must knight for Les on here so i dont expect you to be able to see what is obvious to most not in purple and yellow.

Nick Saban won a national championship at LSU, Les Miles averaged 5 losses a year and never finished higher than third in a conference with two good teams at the time.

you're not nearly as bright as i initially thought you were.
high school kids aren't going to win 80% of their games in the SEC without great coaching. it doesn't matter how good they were in high school.

i still can't believe you actually called a baseball player a bust because he chose 7 million dollars over playing college football.
That's on me. I was thinking Jarrett and typed Zach. I apologize for getting Pick Six Lee's first name wrong.

Louisiana "culture".
Since folks who live in bamma do not know anything about "culture", I can see how this confuses you.
People in Louisiana tend to be hard working, humble, have a lot of fun, and dont take themselves too seriously. All personality traits of CLM.
People in bama, tend to be stuck up, over reacting, and think very highly of themselves....all personality traits of your coach.

it must have been all that high school talent in Louisiana, right? that's why Les wins, right? i mean...what did Saban do at Michigan State? Dinardo recruits.
you're talking yourself in circles Roger

Miles returned to Oklahoma State in 2001 as head coach. In the three years prior to Miles' arrival in Stillwater, the Cowboys finished 5–6, 5–6, and 3–8. Oklahoma State posted another losing record (4–7) in Miles' first season at the helm, but subsequently achieved winning records during each of the following three seasons – 8–5, 9–4, and 7–5, respectively. His last three seasons at Oklahoma State ended in invitations to the Houston, Cotton, and Alamo Bowls, respectively.
During the last game of Miles' first season as head coach, OSU faced Oklahoma, which was ranked #4 in the nation. Despite the fact that OSU was facing Oklahoma on the road, Miles led his team to a 16–13 upset victory over the Sooners.
During Miles' second season, OSU again ended the regular season with a game against Oklahoma. This time Oklahoma was ranked the No. 3 team in the country. And yet again, Miles led his team to a 38–28 upset victory over the Sooners. As a result of his team's performance during his second year, Miles was named the Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year by the Associated Press in 2002.

No and who in their right mind would?
Does Les come off as goofy? yea but he has what a 71% winning percentage in the SEC, that is not a fluke after 7 years

You're right, they can win 100% of their games without great coaching. Hell, they don't even need the level of talent LSU has across the board. Gene Chizik is gonna die famous because of this.
