i've seen the film. ole miss blanketed beckham all three times with man to man and a safety helping. both times mett forced the ball instead of checking down. like someone stated earlier, any DB with a D1 scholarship should pick off any of those three passes. mett made huge mental errors that no gameplan would have overcome in those situations
Guess Miles should learn how to manage a game.

Wallace was 30/39 in the game with no picks
Still doesn't mean that was his best game of his career. Idaho's defense was more challenging for Bo last year. Can't boast about a guys stats going up against a helpless defense.

i'm asking how such a superior coach would let such an inferior coach come back from 17 down in the second half to tie the game. lsu had gift wrapped two possessions for ole miss, throwing two awful picks in the endzone. a superior coach wouldn't have allowed such a comeback from such an allegedly inferior coach
Seems like Freeze knew what he was doing #27-24

This OM-LSU argument is silly and pointless IMO.
OM is on the rise. Freeze appears to be doing good things there. We shall see if that continues. Les Miles has succeeded at the highest level of college football and has a resume second to only one. It's a fact LSU is a much stronger program than Ole Miss at the moment, and has been for some time...That's not to say that will always be the case, things can and probably will change at some point. Ole Miss is starting to get itself back into the "big time"... probably has a ways to go, but nonetheless it appears that it's happening under Freeze. That said, LSU has been elite for 12+ years now and has arguably gotten even more consistent the last 4-5 years under Miles than the prior 7+ seasons under Saban&Miles, which was a pretty damn good stretch in itself. LSU's WORST season in the last decade (2008, 8-5) is comparable to Ole Miss' BEST seasons (2008/2009, 9-4) in the last decade.

so seasons and coaching know-how are determined by one game sample sizes. good to know

so every time a qb throws an interception, it's the coach's fault? again, good to know. guess freeze should have taught your punt returner how to field punts in 2012. what an idiot, amirite?

it was the best game of his career. wouldn't doubt it if wallace felt that was as well

Did I ever say otherwise?

No, and really not Saban either. We've enjoyed more success with Miles since Saban left. In our program Saban wasn't as good a coach as he is now at Alabama.

Not an LSU fan but I'd say only for Saban. Miles is always good for some doofy moments that are easy to make fun of but the guy is a great coach. He recruits to his needs and surrounds himself with top shelf assistants. One of the best CEO coaches out there.

The only thing I have said is that Freeze has outcoached Miles. Seems like a pretty reasonable opinion considering the facts of the two games. You guys ran with it...so, I ran with it and boom...three hours of work felt like 10 minutes.

Les Miles just doesn't win in a fashion that makes me believe he could do it without elite level talent, and at that point how good of a gameday coach is he really?
His teams play down to the competition more than any other and he is good for at least a couple game-changing "WTF" moments a year. I just don't think he is all that great of an Xs and Os guy, and I know from reading Tiger rant that this is hardly an uncommon opinion even among LSU fans.

you said Freeze >> Miles. but if LSU is presently a much superior program wouldnt that make Miles >> Freeze.
the fact that you're even arguing that Freeze is better than Miles is mind boggling to me

I'm not saying Freeze is better than Miles, but I'm not sure Miles could have gotten anymore wins out of Ole Miss the last couple of years. His teams just seem to get by on talent alone so often.

If not for chief he'd been fired years ago.

Most people know that freeze >>> Less.
Choc, you have always been a huge Less homer so I know its hard for you to see, but freeze has looked and been much better than Less head to head.
