Your story leaves out the real issue. I literally spoke with Wally Groff who was the A&M AD about the issue in 1997 and he was still pissed about it. LSU wanted to cancel the contract because we had beaten them 5 in a row and they were trying to rebuild. We told them to buy it out or give us a suitable replacement. No sane person considers USL/ULL a suitable replacement. The contract had a clause that any dispute would be settled in a Louisiana court though and Groff knew he was going to get screwed either way. We took a $100k buyout and the crappy home and home with USL as we had no choice.
Groff said he would never, ever do business with LSU again after that and he didn't while he was AD. He had zero respect for your AD and how they did business.
