This was a long time coming. The NCAA can and will use court records to build a case.
Have heard they've been waiting for the court case to wrap up.

Also heard rumblings about the recruit they picked up yesterday has a lot of smoke a la Ole Miss.

A children's hospital. SMH.

One of the most egregious, disgusting scandals in collegiate sports history.

This thread is for the rest of the SEC

There have been several long threads on this before. Once when the news first broke (with rampant speculation) and then again when we first found this information about The Daveys and Mr. Alexander.

How many threads with appropriately named, descriptive titles have been made since the news article was posted about this individual’s sentencing?

Precisely one.

You’re welcome, pal.

Gumps didn’t make your booster funnel hundreds of thousands of dollars from a charity to LSU players/families.

Former...Former players! As in not playing for the university.

Don’t be intellectually dishonest.

Hope this helps

Lots of ignorance in this thread. The players/families were FORMER players at the time of the money laundering.

Still disgusting for him to do, but not in any way a recruiting/NCAA violation. Sorry baws.

Considering the sentencing has NOTHING to do with the SEC, appropriately NONE.

Now a thread discussing the ramification of what he did HAS been made before. How about you go back and find that Mr. Award Winning ( ) SECRant poster,

Were either of the players on the team when the payments took place?

The Baton Rogue Business Report disagrees.

From the article, which clearly hasn’t been read by a single poster in this thread with an LSU logo next to their name:

quote:

The bill of information didn't specify when the payments to James Alexander were allegedly made. The Baton Rouge Business Report reported in June that Funes sent the money to James Alexander when his son was still playing for the Tigers, which might be a violation of NCAA rules regarding impermissible benefits.

LSU's football program is now under NCAA scrutiny, the school confirmed last week to Yahoo Sports.

An LSU spokesman confirmed to Yahoo Sports that the school was the subject of an inquiry, but did not provide other details...

“LSU was made aware of specific allegations by Our Lady of the Lake officials in late 2018 and made that information immediately available to the NCAA,” LSU senior associate athletic director, Robert Munson, told the news organization. “As this is an ongoing inquiry, LSU will have no further comment at this time.”

It’s just plain old money laundering and fraud.

Most recruiting violations don’t involve kick backs to the booster.

Unfortunately, thanks to this scandal - LSU’s recruiting tactics will always be questioned. This guy was essentially paying players by stealing from a hospital. The fact that you people aren’t outraged is concerning.

LSU fans, "Alabama is the dirtiest program in the SEC! Auburn is filled with cheaters! We're clean and never cheat!"

LSU Alum gets caught funneling half a million dollars through a children's hospital to buy recruits.

LSU fans, "Well, you know, everyone does it. You're only successful if you're cheating."

If we paid 180k for Vadal Alexander and Auburn paid 180k for Cam I’m so goddamn disappointed in Les.

Proud of our bagmen though.
