Sure. Enough when beating up on down programs.

We got a taste of what winning felt like under Dinardo, which caused passion to increase significantly, as he “brought the magic back” to Tiger Stadium. But our top in-state guys were still leaving for schools like FSU and Miami, especially the guys from New Orleans. Dinardo’s recruitment of the Nola area was pathetic, to be frank.
I cared deeply, as did most every LSU supporter at the time. I was a high schooler looking forward to attending. I bought all the recruiting mags, along with the athlons and the Lindy’s, and read every page of them.
I knew LSU could be good, if we were somehow able to secure the top in-state guys, and Saban was the first to be able to do that. He use to say he wanted to build LSU into a “nationally recognized dominant program,” which was unheard of prior.

So, then you're saying that Bama isn't always good now?

Those of us who lived through that period can 100% appreciate what has happened over the past 13 years.
Those who didn't are going to be in for a rude awaking one day.
I still remind myself all the time to just look around and enjoy it.

If anything I'd say in addition to winning the seasons he was there, he brought in the expectation of winning which is what you want with anything. On another note, I do seriously wonder how whoever Saban's replacement is, is going to deal with the ridiculous expecations we Bama fans have now.

I cared then, I care now and I have always had high hopes. We had 5 top 20 finishes in the 1980s including 4 wins over Bama in AL, so we were not totally off the radar. I remember in 1979 losing to #1 USC Trojans 17-12 and to #1 Alabama 3-0 in the cold rain. We did not have the level of talent then that the LSU Tigers have now, but they always played tough. But I choose not to live in the past, we are recruiting strong and moving on. Looking forward to the game in the Rose Bowl September 4th.

Exactly and this is why this shite never gets boring. Winning game after game. Trust me, Tigahs, if you had been able to at least decently defended your 2019 NC, no matter how well you did, it would not be enough to say "I'm satisfied".

I still do the same. I can vividly remember being super pumped just to see LSU in the "others receiving votes" list.

No one was close to satisfied in the fan base last year, in fact people are still saying that if it doesn't turn around, heads should roll.
But after 2019, LSU lost over 30 key players including drafted players, UDFAs, COVID opt outs and other crazy stuff. It is not an excuse, we did not live up to our standards. But there were plenty of reasons for that including our fired defensive coordinator. The expectations in Tiger Land are sky high this year.

bama should know that better than anyone.
Hell, I originally signed up on Tigerdroppings back when we still sucked shite.

Even with Shula, we had a 10 win season. But my point is that everybody in Alabama today does not remember a time when Bama did not have winning tradition.
So what an opportunity to crush and entire states hopes and dreams all at once. We’re coming.

That's eerily similar to the proliferation of Miami fans in the late 80's - early 90's. Miami fans, many of whom had never been to Miami, maybe not even Florida, were suddenly everywhere.
When America's team shoved their arrogance and bravado into the scared faces and embarrassed them so badly in '92, all that Miami bandwagon fandom ended very quickly.

Just over 200 posts.
Now I understand.
Did you answer an ad from the mods looking for more irritating UA posters?

The first three years of Dinardo were fine. Energized the program in 1995 and then finished T-1 in the West in 1996 and 1997. He just made a poor hire, stuck by him, and got fired. But he recruited very well, locked down the state for the first time since Arnsparger, and left Saban with ample talent to come in and win immediately. He also won quite a few big football games during his time at LSU

Troll another thread, Rohan. This one is actually interesting and people are being honest. It's refreshing. Don't crap on it.
