So with the AD reducing their contributions to academics, does that mean the State will pony up the shortfall?

Hasn't the State tried to cut academic funding for years now? I remember F. King going public multiple times threatening faculty and course cuts across the board in a effort to prevent the state from cutting their academic budgets.

JINDAL cut academic funding for "years," not Edwards. In case you hadn't heard, Jindal has been gone for 2 or 3 years now. I give Edwards credit for getting the State in the black again.
All Woodward is saying is that the State should start funding LSU as it traditionally has in the past (about 11% of the LSU System's total budget came from the State.) This doesn't mean the Athletic Department will NEVER support or assist the University again. LSU's Athletic Dept has been, is, and will continue to be one of the few that makes a healthy profit every year.

Meanwhile, the University's campus capital projects and Master plan list the Memorial Tower, the PMAC, the Middleton Library, and other campus and academic buildings, as on-going projects that they are undertaking as we speak.

The LSU Foundation, the National L Club, the LSU Alumni Association, and the Tiger Athletic Foundation, among others, are constantly raising funds, marketing to LSU alumni, corporations, and fans and will continue to do so. Contributions to the both the University academic side and athletic side will only go up.

President F. King Alexander, Joe Alleva, the Board of Sueprvisors, and AD Woodward, are all on the same page on this.

Bush league is the fact that you can’t fund your own shike. You’ve been own here complaining like a liberal that the government hasn’t given your school enough money and it continuously has to get help from the athletic department to fix its toilets. So either your charging to little for tuition your booster aren’t donating enough or your schools stealing all the money since everyone knows how corrupt Louisiana has always been. So which is it.

If all the people are donating where’s the money? It obviously isn’t going to keep your books dry. If the State want give enough then do like every other school in the country has done and increase your out of state enrollment. You had to put dorms in the stadium to afford to build it originally so quit complaining. Hell the dorms are just empty rooms know put your damn books in there.

You can bet that Woodward would not have made the announcement without the support and agreement of the LSU administration.
