A few months ago, would anyone have thought Kentucky would be favored in this game?

Kentucky is ranked once again after a short stint in 2020. The Wildcats surged into the AP poll after a 20-13 upset of then-No.10 Florida. What stood out from this win, in particular, was the Wildcats pulling out the win despite totaling 224 yards of offense, converting one-third down and holding the ball for fewer than 24 minutes. UK made the most of its opportunities in the second half with Trevin Wallace returning a blocked field goal for a touchdown before Chris Rodriguez Jr. ran for the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter. UK opened as home favorites over LSU.
The Tigers fell at home, 24-19, against Auburn as Max Johnson’s streak of three-touchdown games ended. LSU conceded the game’s final 14 points after building a 19-10 lead. Johnson topped 300 passing yards again, but the lack of a run game with 33 yards on 25 carries. The Tigers will try to get back on track against Kentucky, a team it hasn’t lost to since 2007.

They could rush 1 man and we still wouldn't run the ball. Very sad.

This is true, Auburn came with only 2 rushers a handful of times against us and we ran the ball 0 times in those looks.
They also only had 1 defensive lineman at times with hand down.

Coach O thought Max could be Burrow.

That being said, as far as OP, I also never saw Kentucky beating Florida the way Kentucky was playing leading up to that game (barely beating Mizzou, SC and Chattanooga; UF playing toe to toe with Bama)...it's really turning into a strange season.

This is a trap game for Kentucky. Coming off of big win like that, this is those games that keeps programs like Kentucky from getting over the hump by slipping up.
Losing would be a big setback and they need to stay focused

Not running the ball late was ridiculous. I get that LSU struggles with it but you still have to.
Kiner and TDP were averaging 4.4 and 3.6 YPA so you have to give them some carries.

Won't surprise me a bit if LSU wins this one. The talent difference is unreal - LSU just can't put it together. At least not yet.

I actually thought LSU’s secondary looked pretty good Saturday night.
Those Johnny Manziel plays that Bo was making are hard to quantify on the stat sheet.

After UCLA, I posted that Kentucky would abuse LSU physically (clown world) and Ed would be fired that Sunday.
It’s embarrassing for a coach to walk around acting like a tough guy and field a team with the physicality of Vandy.

Didn’t you hear O say that the staff will revolutionize the coaching world by teaching our kids a new way to block? Once the kids learn it, our rushing game will improve exponentially. The sky’s the limit!

Oh yeah, I forgot about that.

I thought LSU's defense looked much improved vs State and Auburn compared to 2020.
Obviously still not great but not trash either.
No run game will be what causes this team's demise, Johnson, Bech, and Boutte are basically the entire offense right now

I agree, they’re not doing it on the field (at least yet), but the players still pass the eye test for the most part.
It’s odd.

Agree especially considering Stingley was out the whole game and Ricks also missed quite a few drives himself. We had essentially backup corners in most of the game between McGlothern and Evans...and Evans specifically usually is pretty bad.
You just cant have any secondary cover for like 8-10 seconds, it's way too much time.

Yeah, Boutte is unreal, but one guy can only do so much without help.
If they could get that running game going, imagine how much more dangerous he actually could be.
