Chizik will be happy to take Channing Ward off of Mullen's hands on NSD...

Channing, along with his entire team from Aberdeen HS was in Atlanta last night to watch hometown hero, and Falcolns TE (Reggie Kelly) play against the Jags. Channing has developed a close bond with Kelly who went to high school with some of Channing's relatives.

And to make sendse of this just look up where Reggie Kelly played college ball.

Reggie Kelly plays in Atlanta. Auburn is very close to Atlanta. Starkville is not.

Not happening

Mullen agreed to a 1 year contract extension yesterday with our AD. (In Mississippi the longest contract anyone can have is 4 years, since you can't have a contract for longer than the governor) Dan and his wife Megan are very happy in Starkville.

That looks like me my freshman year when I first experienced club life.

that sounds completely made up. I suppose anything is possible in MS, but that seems far fetched.

I don't know about the governor part but the 4 year contract for state employee thing is true.

If it is limited to that, I can see it being true.

Is it one of those things...keep winning the egg bowl and you can stay as long as you'd like?

So you use the exception and not the rule. You use the one DECENT, not great, recruiting class and not the ones before that were abysmal.

Mullen received a $1 million pay bump when he signed a four-year deal worth $10.6 million in December of 2010. State law does not allow contracts to exceed four years.

The Governor, of course IS a State Employee.

Mississippi State University is a PUBLIC University run by the State Board of IHL thus Mullen or any coach or elected official can only have a contract/salary through 4 years.

I learned that in State and Local Govt class I took in college.

Like I said, if it is limited to state employees, it is believable.

Mississippi is, well, Mississippi. Jackson had some goofy law about more than so many girls living in a house are considered a house of ill repute. Therefore, Millsaps sororities have "lodges" where they meet, but cannot live. Purty silly, but MS is like turning back the clock 75 years.

disclaimer: this is not to say LA is a progressive state, cause it ain't. not trying to start a pissing contest Herr Bundy.

No shite the governor is a state employee but the part about state employees not being able to have contracts longer than the governor is what he is saying sounds made up.

be wary of the Hugh Freeze. He learned how to recruit from Bebe Orgeron. He knows all the shady tricks and so will his staff. I dont think merlins will compete with the slimeball aspect of recruiting like the way orgeron taught freeze.

it should be mentioned, that what is probably helping Dan a lot this year is having his name mentioned for a lot a big jobs like Penn State. he can use that w/ recruits to show his value but look them in the eyes and tell them he's committed to MSU

I think this is exactly what he's been doing the last two years. He has some good recruiters on his staff. He is the only one known for not being a good recruiter, so I guess he had to do something and it's working. Programs like state have to keep a coach at their school for a while to be successful. If he can stay, we will build evey year, and he's locked in four four years at the moment so I am happy as shite.
