Comrade Golesh:
"There's so much staff turnover that it would be hard to truly be able to put it all together and be competitive to where you have a chance to go and win a football game," Golesh said. "If you're going to play a game, you need to go win that game."
"There are so many of (players) that are done with finals and are able to get out and go home and be with their families for a little while here," Golesh said. "To be able to get everybody back together and figure out who the heck is going to coach them and how you actually would do that — the timing of it all was just not practical. It just wasn't realistic. Would you love to go play a game? Absolutely. Would you love to go compete and win a game? Absolutely. But the timing of it all was just not realistic."
Even if Golesh could have cobbled together a staff to prepare for a game in short order, he estimated that 75 percent of Auburn's 2025 roster has already left campus for the holiday break, with final exams ending this week.
"I think that would be really unrealistic and not fair to the kids more than anybody else," Golesh said. "So it just didn't make any sense."

People already pointed out its Rutgers listed twice, but I was thinking ND didn't count as a team anymore.

We're still putting together a coaching staff. Hell, you had to borrow a coach.

Most new coaches in the SEC would jump at the chance to get to know his players and let the temporary coach finish the season.
Its not like he has to take responsibility for anything that has happened or further transpires this season.
