The past? Y'all kicked our arse this weekend. But it's baseball and we're still ranked #4. Calm down.

Correct, after the arse bludgeoning they received on Saturday, I had no less than 3 texas acquaintances bring up the "all time record, you will never catch up" in furiously fingered texts.

I got this text from one of my Texas buddies on Thursday before the series even started. He must have had a premonition about how the weekend would go
Saturday after the 1st inning all he said was "belt to arse from lil bro"

Yall need to return the favor and put belt to arse as well. I've watched some of your games shaking my head...you're a much better team than the record. You have the 2nd half of the season to right the ship....

...but not until after this weekend.

Okay, way to show that strawman who said Texas deserves their ranking. Anyway, does that mean I need to "live in the past"? Of course not.

I was talking about my buddies, not you specifically.
One was so pissed off he started hyperventilating... his wife actually called me and asked me to quit responding, "he's going to have a heart attack...you old men are ridiculous ".

Damn that's sad. Your friend sounds like a complete idiot. Hyperventilating?

You're telling me. Its been an incredibly frustrating season. I do disagree with one thing, about being a better team than the record. I think there are a lot of very talented players, but I don't think they've been playing well as a team to be better than their record. The defense just hasn't gelled at all, and you can tell by how much the lineup has been changing that the bats have not been anywhere near consistent enough to be dangerous day in, day out. Liabilities all around, without even getting to the pitching troubles.

Its legitimately the same thing that could happen with all the transfers on the LSU football team this coming season.

In fairness, there are way too many variables when it comes to baseball, than football, and in spite of what the Rant says, Kiffin is very good at evaluating talent for football, so I suspect LSU will be ok in football. That said, it will also depend on if the players will buy in on Kiffin's culture and philosophy in the first year. I would expect bigger things in year two or three from LSU, with probably a bit of an uptick in year one.
