Assuming for a moment that they actually have Schloss signed (or at least verbally committed), announcing the firing of Pierce on the day Schloss plays for his first national title and floating rumors that he has signed with tu is about the most tu thing that tu can do.

It’s what the sips do. They announced Sarkisian on the day we played the Orange Bowl. They have to insert themselves in every conversation, especially to take away from A&M. It just cannot be Vitello or Schloss.
If I were either of them this move would make me livid. Both are playing for their first championship tonight. And this will be a distraction for both teams
