Alot of those 2010s SEC west schedules were TBH. I checked CFB reference recently and couldn't believe how many teams other than Bama were maxing out at 8 wins.
People just play it up bc Auburn had a few good years, LSU had a few good years, and then a lot of preseason poll inertia

If the TEAM is arrogant, that's a different story. But Alabama fans were arrogant for at least half a decade if not longer and their team was focused and kept blowing everyone out thanks to Saban's coaching.
Smart is pretty good at keeping his teams from getting arrogant and overconfident.

So let me get this right.
UGA played Tennessee every year in a format with divisions and has won 7 in a row against Tennessee.
But this year, because divisions don't exist anymore, UGA will lose to Tennessee. Not lose to Tennessee because UGA got worse or Tennessee got better... but lose simply BECAUSE divisions don't exist?
That sounds... really fricking stupid.
