My last hope for what? Unlike a lot of other people on this site, I don't care whether these guys are allowed to play. I'm just glad college football is back.
This whole circus is fascinating from a legal standpoint, so I'm enjoying seeing how the legal arguments play out on both sides. I just happen to think the issues raised in the federal case are more interesting.

Good, so you understand legal precedence. Ball is in LSU's court. They will lose. Surely you understand the first amendment issue with the SEC being able to enforce their bylaws in a voluntary organization. If you don't like it, you can surely seek another conference to join, but I don't think LSU will meet the requirements from the Big 10.

This case aside, he's as legit a trial lawyer as there is. They selected him as special prosecutor for Derek Todd Lee case, etc.
He's got personality, for sure, but he's one of the good guys and is an excellent attorney.
The people on this board, if they learned about him for another reason, would love this dude. He is hard nosed and wins...a lot.

Nah, I think Kiffin, LSU, and other schools are doing the right thing here. Push the envelope and force the courts, congress, whomever to act.
Until there's a defintive ruling that prohibits this, why wouldn't you try to sign everyone you can (if you believe they'll help you win)?

Overseen by a local elected judge from Southern law elected in a district 9 times out of 10 most LSU fans would ridicule is now our supposed hero and federal law expert.
I wasn’t aware the 5 for 5 did away with the NCAA’s rules on professionals and eligibility. I am not sure the SEC is the one to question about specific NCAA rules. I thought the focus would be about the SEC rule on professionals.
LSU alumni should be more concerned about what’s happened on the actual campus, but most ignored what Tate was up to and even applauded him for loving sports.

Is it a normal practice for an elected DA to keep practicing private law even if it’s civil instead of criminal? Not just a figure head with an office waiting for him when he leaves office but actually doing day to day stuff for civil clients and trying those civil cases himself.
EDIT: I didn’t realize Orleans DA Jason Williams was the attorney for the SEC.
