The portal, NIL, Saban retiring when these guys wanted to play for a legend.

O got fired before the season was over. The team had a losing record and O’s brand of running a program that seemed like zero accountability/let the players run wild.

Are you seriously trying to compare O’s last 2 years to Saban’s lol.

My point was I don’t remember LSU losing the caliber of player Alabama has because O had tanked the team. Losing D Rosenthal and Trey Palmer doesn’t matter as much as losing Caleb Downs and K Proctor. LSU had a losing season, they only had one way to go but up.

And I’m not arguing it’s fair or unfair. This is college football now.

Why will y’all not answer how many scholarship players Alabama has right now?

No, I'm saying the end result was the same in that mass amounts of players left.

I don't understand this Bama narrative that players are only leaving because they're being offered more money. That may be true in some cases but I would imagine most are simply leaving because Saban and their position coaches are gone.

Downs is from Georgia, he doesn't give a frick about Alabama football. Proctor is from Iowa, he took less NIL money to play for Saban, why wouldn't he leave now?

Eli Ricks didn't care about LSU, his connection to LSU was Ed Orgeron.

I would say it’s both, but if I’m not mistaken most entered the portal before Saban retired.

The better players, higher rated guys have left after he retired. I’m not arguing Saban leaving didn’t have a huge impact, and obviously the ones who left after he retired have left mainly because he wouldn’t be their coach.

3 or 4 programs had to sit back and watch the rest of CFB at an auction for their players?

Bama doesn't have to sit back. Get your asses in gear and bid.

Which were 5 stars?

Oh so now whether someone was a 5 star in high school is the barometer of being good? ok\

McGlothern was the #43 overall player in his class and an All-SEC DB
Max Johnson was a 4 star
Deion Smith was the #95 overall player in his class
Trey Palmer set Nebraska record for receiving yards and is a starter in the NFL on a playoff team
Dare Rosenthal was an All-SEC OL

It wasn't a problem when Florida, LSU, etc. were being gutted. But all of a sudden, it's a major issue. The NCAA needs to do something about this now!

Unreal.

Personally, I’ve felt like it was out of control prior to Saban’s retirement. I don’t necessarily blame any program or player for taking advantage of it, but it’s turned things into a Wild West.
