The big 3 down here are always near in the bottom in penalties. There really must be something in the water.

Yards alone are not a quality metric.
The quality of the penalty is what really matters. How many big plays do bad calls remove? How often is momentum disrupted by bad calls? How many big plays occurred due to missed calls? Etc.
If I were a crooked ref and didn't want to get caught, I'd call a lot of relatively meaningless fouls against my preferred team so that I could call meaningful fouls against the other team and still defeat lists like this.

Did you copy and paste this from the Tiger Rant?

You should be able to tell that no Louisianan wrote that by the reasonably correct grammar and spelling.

To answer this you have to look at more than just total penalties called and yardage although those do tell a substantial part of the story. You also need to look at key calls, ball spots, and things like this:

You can't post that. Refs are ALWAYS screwing over lsu

This is a very true statement brother. Perhaps the SEC officials favor Arkansas by not extending its opponents drives during crucial 3rd downs....
Opponent's 1st downs gained off of a penalty on 3rd down

Bert seemed to get on pretty well with some of the ref crews. I know we did more screwing than being screwed these past five years.
I had the opposite feeling during Petrino and Nutt's tenures.

I remember him getting madder than a hornet at some.

You cheer for a former ACC team that brings nothing to the SEC except a fatass online catfish that makes Tuscaloser get hard!
And you got owned, AGAIN, on the PTB!
As always, I
at you and your kin!
Congrats on winning the most trailer park award?

Most of these probably occurred during Ellis Johnson's tenure as DC.

I applaud you for bringing a stat other that the usually opponents penalties yards per game stat that bama fans use to “prove” their point that they don’t get preferential treatment. FWIW, I don’t believe it[preferential treatment], but the one stat was getting a bit overused and didn’t actually show anything.

We've been last in the country and/or in the bottom five nationally almost every year since 2008 in opponent's penalties/yds.

Watch the games. What you’ll see is Alabama get about 20 calls in their favor at crucial times. Once the game is well in hand, the refs will start throwing silly flags on Alabama to make it seem like it was fair to begin with.
