I agree with the OP. You're naive to think the SEC played a strong schedule.
Last year Ole Miss had TCU, a team snubbed by the CFP. State had GA Tech, a team coming off a big win against UGA, runner up in the ACC. LSU had Notre Dame. At least a name team, although generally sucks in bowl games. Auburn had Wisconsin, much better team than a coachless Memphis team.

All of the big bowl matchups were blowouts. Not just talking about the SEC. They were all lopsided. Just worked out that way. The OP's post is weak. Let's just enjoy the fact that everything is back in order. The SEC is the toughest league, top to bottom, in the country. And the SEC West consists of 7 teams that could beat 90% of the teams in the country. Find me another division of another league whose records are 12-1, 10-3, 9-3, 9-4, 8-5, 8-5 and 7-6. No rain on this parade.

at least 6 of them could probably beat Memphis...

Ole Miss, Tennessee and LSU may very well have beaten Oklahoma, Michigan State and Notre Dame had they been paired against those higher ranked teams.

I think that more tickets would be sold to a game like LSU vs USC - 2 traditionally good teams in the best conferences
Brilliant. How many USC fans would have traveled for the Texas Bowl?

wish i'd done that..
spent 20 secs going thru that when it occured to me there aren't that many good teams this year, hell even mizzou got a bowl invite w/ ONLY FIVE wins, and they might not even show up for the game and play it!

THIS YEAR, AUBURN and TENNESSEE are the ONLY SEC teams that took on someone with a much better record.
Oklahoma State was ranked above OM in the AP poll and had a better record (10-2 vs 9-3).

to see their team play a name brand school?
more than traveled to see Wisconsin

They play in the 12. Which we have already decided blows

that was actually one of the better matchups, even though it wound up not being close - great win for the Rebs and very exciting for Ole miss to be in the Sugar Bowl
does not change the fact that this year's bowl slate sucked

Yes, they're not going to travel across country to see LSU in the Texas Bowl just like Wisky didn't travel across country to see them play USC in San Diego.
So the net sum of your argument on that is zero.

College football is down across the board, no great qbs anywhere this year. Will work it's way back up in the next 2 years then dip again.
I did not think clemson, ou, or MSU looked to be a NC caliber team. Stanford is just like UGA in 09 great team but 2 losses hurt.

Exactly. A lot of parity in both CFB and the NFL.

it helps the bowls to sell more tickets, that much is indisputable
BUT, the real money is in the TV ratings - this year, the rating were WAY down from previous years (which will adversely affect conference TV deals moving forward if the trend continues)
Also, better matchups will drive more local ticket sales

I don't know if you understand what that means in regards to this thread. There are probably more than 102 here that do not understand football so that part is not surprising. This bowl schedule was crap for the SEC, we should have swept this pitiful lineup.
