Ah, 1785, when Georgia was a southern state and not firmly in the grasp of the American communist party.

Fun fact:

The colony of Georgia and what became the united state had a western border to the Oconee River. As soon as John Milledge stepped over the river, he was on native american territory. He said frick it, this is where UGA will be. This is God's country he said.

There's also a spring downtown that people don't know about, can't believe it's not a national landmark. It's another reason he chose present day Athens to be the site of the university. It's on Spring St, in a parking lot behind the Republic Salon.

Is this the same spring that runs underground beneath Sanford Stadium. I seem to remember hearing the stadium was built over an underground stream that flows into the river behind the stadium

You obviously haven’t spent much time in football locker rooms.
Kirby is the best motivator in college football. He gets our guys so hyped up they would run thru a brick wall if he asked them to

Negative. The spring is downtown. The creek you are referring to is Tanyard Creek. It does run underneath the stadium through pipes.

Thanks for the info.
Georgia has an underground spring. GT has a sewer line under their field. Really.
