A&M was actually a military sanctioned school like the US Naval Academy and US Military Academy. if you didn't know that and that's where the traditions came from, then you're an idiot.

LOL if you think that Midnight Yell is honestly held because the crowd forgets the yells and has to be reminded how they go. It's a glorified pep rally, nothing more.
We know its not really practice...but you're filing into a stadium to yell...at nothing. Lunatics do this too, the get committed though.

And now they're not, correct? So these guys go to a&m and act like they are at a school like army or navy...why don't they go to army or navy?

Larry, did you actually go to college? I ask simply because most posters have their college emblem next to their name rather than an NFL team.

so these "military traditions" are from a group of people who only pretend like they are in the military? that makes this about 1000000000000x worse
nobody makes fun of the Army or Navy traditions, b/c they are the Army and Navy and people respect that
A&M has a bunch of glorified boy scouts who like to pretend they are in the military- and yet that is the group of people who shaped your schools traditions?
Dont Ask Dont Tell I guess... what happens at yell practice STAYS at yell practice
Texas A&M produced more officers than West Point and Annapolis combined in WWII--and continues to produce graduates who go on to serve in the armed forces at a ridiculous rate. No, not all TAMU cadets commission--neither do all Citadel or VMI cadets. It's the exact same thing, on a much bigger scale. Hardly pretend.
Again, all underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores) have to go through the same ROTC training that those on contract (or those who eventually pick up a military contract) endure. Many of them finish the last 2 years of the Corps even if they don't join the military--those cadets have a deeper appreciation of what their military counterparts go through than those who just attended college and saw the uniforms.

only about 1800-2000 of the 50000 students are in the corp. i was not one of them.

Texas A&M is designated as a Senior Military College--in the same classification as the Citadel, Norwich, VMI, and Virginia Tech. Basically, these schools have training environments on par with the Academies without being designated as such. And honestly, some prefer having a rigid training environment within their school's unique culture. Never met an Aggie, Hokie, or Bulldog (Citadel) that regretted attending their school (in fact, some of them chose those schools over the Academies).

Of all the weird things we do to make fun of, I don't get the hate for Midnight Yell. It is often ranked among the best traditions in college football, and whenever a new opponent comes to Kyle Field, opposing fans go out of their way to be at Kyle at midnight and they are usually blown away.
I've included just a few links of the many places that rank Midnight Yell as one of the best traditions in college football.

What the hell does that have to do with anything?

This is the SEC. Most fans of each particular school never set foot in a classroom, there. (whether they went somewhere else or didn't go at all).

Could not get in. It is kinda difficult to be excepted to these Military Academies. There is more to it than signing up...

Still seems odd...if i wanted to be a painter i'd go to an arts school, if i wanted to be a farmer i'd go to an ag school, if i wnated to be a military man i'd go to military academy.
