The obvious answer is just to tell him to run the Cam Newton offense or find a new job, but realistically if the OL is as bad as you say it might just not be in the cards this year

The OL cannot blow people off the line and run a power run game- which is what Shula is hellbent for leather to do. The OL and skill position players are set up for misdirection and spreading the field. Getting the ball in space. Moving people around, taking deep shots where applicable, and letting the play develop. And honestly, that's what the opening drives do. They look exactly like that. But after series 3 or so, Shula bunches everyone within a small window and tries to pound the ball, which isn't a good fit for anyone's skills.

He's in his own head, as a play caller. I'd go so far as to promise you that, if SC were running Georgia Tech's offense, they'd be dropping 40+ a game. But they're trying to run a Tom Brady-style Patriots offense, where the QB never leaves the pocket. Even bootlegs (at which Sellers is naturally adept) are few and far between.

Shula seems like a nice guy. Lots of people like him. But he's stubborn, and he's also over his head.

Is a pretty accurate comparison for Sellers, honestly. And like you said, he was handcuffed by poor coaching.

Sellers should have 1 read, 2 read, GO as his base offense. The OL isn't good enough for him to make it to option 4, but the passing route tree is a mess. And you can honestly look at Sellers on the sideline and see he has no confidence anymore. Last year, there was a moxie to him, where you knew he would take over the game when needed. Now, he looks like a lost ball in high weeds. It's 100% coaching.

Beamer hired a OC (Shula) who refuses to use his running ability and makes him stand in the pocket with one of the worst offensive lines I’ve ever seen in my life. Sellers has no chance to succeed

He had 13 carries in week 1 and 8 against SC St in week 2. How many carries exactly do you want your QB to have, especially after seeing him get hurt and watching your backup play in his absence?

Yeah the first two or so drives of each game we run exactly what we need to do and then it becomes run up the middle twice and do a screen on third down.

I like Luke Doty, I really do. Loyal kid, good athlete, great character, probably would have been better off going to another program coming out of high school rather than coming into the shitshow that Muschamp had here at the time, but he should never be taking a snap at QB these days unless it’s for some trickery. I get not having Cutter Woods not being the back up since he’s a true freshman, but Air Noland fits our offensive style more than Doty and should have been out there.

I don't disagree with you. Noland is probably the better play for Saturday against Mizzou than Doty. I like Luke, and he's definitely paid any and all dues, but Noland is more the pro-style passer that Shula wants.

May as well see what he can do. It's going to be a bloodbath. May as well get live reps. This reminds me of how I felt before the Lorenzo Nuñez game.

There's a lot of speculation around the offense has been called in a bandbox so far this year (most everything so close to LOS) because of his injury from fall camp and still slowly recovering from that. We've seen what he can do when he gets going downfield (not necessarily deep shots, but when he DOES throw the ball downfield it's a beauty to watch), but we've stuck so close to the vest (or LOS) this year he hasnt been given much of a chance to really shine especially with the weapons we have. Between the injury thing and they are clearly terrified about our OL holding up most of the passing this year is hardly ever making defenses respect us.

Nuss had a severe underthrow on a wide open guy streaking downfield in the LT game which was very odd to see, dude has a cannon for a arm (Can easily chuck it 50+ yards) and never saw him underthrow a guy that much before (again, which makes people think he is hurt a bit still)

There's really nothing wrong that Nuss has done this year other than that underthrow and then the bad decision pick in the UF game. His PFF grade is 79.3 on the season, so they believe he's performing overall at a higher level

Is the problem. He’s hired 3 different OCs and they’ve all been arse. He’s been here 5 seasons and our offensive line is no better than it was during Muschamp’s tenure. The only thing separating the two is Rattler and Sellers are significantly better than any QB that Muschamp had.

Being slightly better than Muschamp puts him squarely in D tier. Muschamp is the second worst coach in South Carolina history behind Fat Brad and Beamer is marginally better than him.

Muschamp is the second worst coach in SC history? I dont like Will at all but that is very false.

Beamer has been the second best SC coach ever, maybe third depending on how you value Morrison's time...but he also couldn't sustain success. Would have a good year then a bad one. His steroids scandal also put us in a position to get Sparky....who really was maybe the second worst coach Carolina has had (Since Carlen)

Neither one looks like an upper 50% SEC QB right now.

Yep Sellers can only do so much. He’s been bailing Carolina out past two seasons.

Game management is part of the team my football friend. Nuss is 3-0

To be fair, that's due to the defense, not Nuss.

It also appears that Nuss has been playing injured.

Nuss does have to get better no doubt but he has been battling though a torso injury since spring that Kelly shed light on yesterday coupled by Kelly admitting to not focusing as much on deep passes and is making the offense more conservative given the fact we have a top notch defense. We are basically managing the game with field position and good D but we are also stripping Nuss from his DNA which is a gunslinger. The offense is 100% on CBK and he even said he told Sloan to dial back the the offense and go into manage mode.

I am disappointed in USCe. Seems like every time Beamer can level up the season from good to great he reverts back to fighting for good to mediocre.
