Your points don't change the fundamental fact that he said he would not be the coach at Alabama and then signed a contract to be the coach at Alabama.

Ole Miss will match or exceed. This isn't about money, it's where he thinks he'll be able to get in the CFP and win championships.

Ole Miss could never compete with Florida's resources. His chances of making the playoffs aren't higher at OM.

This is, of course, a strawman. Even if he didn't know, he said definitively that he wouldn't be.

That's not a strawman.

At any rate, he wasn't bullshitting and he wasn't lying if he didn't know. He gave an honest response at the time.

Then he was.

This happens all the time, coaches do it every few years. It's not a mystery. Back channels are talking and negotiating.

Ok, give some examples.

I guess you'll just be ignoring the part where you back up your claim by naming other examples.

This is just a way to distract for the real candidate that Florida is zeroing on to be the next Florida HC.

"he didn't know" like who else is going to know? Again floating the blindsided by a job theory.

As for the other coaches, unless you've just started watching football I'm surprised you'd even ask this.

Tuberville leaving "in a pine box" then joining Auburn.

Sark saying he wasn't going to USC then going the next day.

Petrino telling Louisville he wasn't leaving then going to the falcons

And that's just SEC coaches. The list is too long for you to be this aloof.

This is all just a distraction by some oklahoma sooner hooligans to cause disarray on game week. Florida hasn't contacted kiffin....we just like to stir shite up on game week to get the competive advantage....kindve like what southern cal did....wait.

You're talking about when the media asks them dumb questions they have no choice but to answer that way. That's not what happened with Saban, he hadn't even talked to Alabama at that point.

I’m thinking Florida matched OUR offer.
It’s only a few million more than what he is making right now. Once you’re in for 10 million what’s another 3.5 million?

I actually feel for Ole Miss. They are in the thick of the CFP/SECCG hunt. This is exactly the kind of distraction that caused Liberty to come apart at the seams in 2022. We were at 8–1 at the time and proceeded to lose the final three regular season games and our bowl game.

As much as I hate ole miss - have to agree - never fails - some team on the cusp - and mid season they have to contend with rumors and keeping focus.

Reminds me of the miles to Michigan fiasco - of course we were disappointed that he stayed as opposed to leaving.

Hm, are you sure you grasp timelines?

Saban "I will not be the coach of Alabama" = the future

[timeline continues beyond that statement into the future]

Saban is the coach of Alabama.

If I'm remembering correctly Saban was probably telling the truth at the time he said that. Afterwards Alabama offered the job to Rich Rodriguez who wound up turning it down and then Saban must have changed his mind. I think wanting to finish the season with Miami was part of his going back and forth about it
