At Tennessee when they pay him a few million on his buyout because they have to fire him early.

I think the guy is a clown of the highest order, but he just might turn out to be a good college coach.
Follow me here. The two games - NFL and NCAA - are worlds apart when it comes to coaching. Some of the best in the college game - take Spurrier and Saban - failed miserably in the NFL.
It seems to me that it takes an ability to influence kids - and by that I mean get them to listen - in order to coach them up. When you get to the pros it's too late, in most cases. Saban influences kids with his track record: "Listen to me, defensive player, and you'll make it to the NFL." Spurrier has lived off of his (well deserved) reputation for offensive excellence at Florida since returning to the college game, although the scent may be off the rose.
For whatever reason, Kiffen is influencing players. He's getting a few good kids to come to Tennessee and he's making a sh*tload of noise right now. As much as I hate it (I have a teenager), this type of sh*t resounds with high school kids. Look no further than many of the disrespectful signing ceremonies where hats are tossed on the floor, etc. to understand the mindset of the average high school senior.
Next year - based on this - this clown may do better on the recruiting trail. It's pretty well established that he's not an X's and O's coach, but if his assistants can do their jobs and if he can study up on the rules enough to keep the Vols off probation this loud distraction that is the Lane Kiffen Project just might work.
And I would be absolutely mortified if it did...

Yeah..He'll certainly get the last laugh..The Last one leaving The swamp and Btyant-Denny...and his Stadium Will be the Ones Laughing..At Him. I can't wait until the "Festivities" begin in The Swamp. The Ole Bpy needs to get his act together..or back to the Left Coast..Bye Bye..

So the guy that wrote this article thinks Kiffin is brilliant because his name is fresher than Spurrier winning at Florida in the 90s, or Coach Bryant winning in the 60s and 70s? OK, granted that's true, but I don't think these kids have forgotten what Saban, Miles, and Meyer have done in the last few years, and that Kiffin can only promise those things. They have actual evidence they can do it. Kiffin can only feed them more bullshite.

Negative. Considering the train wreck he left in Oakland, I think he brought it to Tenn. The 09 season should be a hoot!

this is where cooler heads prevail. when the dust settles, kids can pick potential and possibilities, or proven track records. i believe most kids will see through the smoke and mirrors and choose the proven commodities over hype. his act wont work in the SEC. not with the current head coaches who have top notch programs already. not when the same coaches are already elite recruiters. not with this shite storm hes created for himself. id be surprised if he lasted past 3 years.

OK so one kid knows Kiffin's name.....and the pumpkins get even more desperate for legitimacy in the SEC.

As Sabin would be quick to note, Hitler got a lot of press also and look what happened to him.
