Didn't he also break their single season strikeout record?
Posted on 6/11/24 at 5:54 pm to SidewalkTiger
Yes, shattered it. Both their starters last year broke their previous record in the CWS. They each threw around 150. Burns struck out 191 this year. Had they made it to Omaha, he would have struck out more batters than Skenes did last year.

Pretty sure Wake's field is smaller than Tennessee.
You are right!
Left Field- 310
Right Field- 300
My high school field is bigger than this. But yet all you rangers talk about how LNS is the smallest field. Oh well, still gave up more home runs at Wake and he didn’t change either. Get to the 5-7th innings and he falls apart. Still true today. He is going to the pros, but he will end up a closer, or reliever. He’s not gonna be in the MLB where he struggles to get to 5th and 6th innings.

So burns lost the supers vs Notre dame. But it’s a best of 3….
Beam and Sechrist both average less than 6 innings per start. So why don’t they go out in the 4th instead of start

Smallest field in the conference, Wake Forest isn't in the SEC.

I guess unless your name is Chase Burns and your coach's name is Tony Vitello
Chase Burns left because Vitello wouldn’t promise him anything. He told him he could come in and work like everyone else, but didn’t promise him the full time starter roll and he left. Vitello admitted in his press conference at the end of the year that they all knew Burns was leaving before season was even over with. Vitello even admitted they both had meeting and agreed to get whatever they could out of them both the rest of the season and he would be gone. There was no hope in changing his mind and Vitello didn’t even try.
The guys at LSU are leaving because of playing time, or not being developed. Burns was a 1st round draft pick had he been eligible both his freshman and sophomore seasons.

Burns 100000% would have been, at worst, Tennessee #2 on the weekend this year had he stayed. And had he stayed and put up the numbers he did at Wake, you’d be telling us about him being the best pitcher in the nation
He didn’t get along with Vitello. That’s why he left. And you want to put that all on Burns, obviously. The fact that Vitello threw him under the bus publicly says a lot about TV’s character if he actually said what you said he did, which I highly doubt he said that

Yes he lost game 3 for the Vols. He gave up 1 run up to the 7th inning and was dominant. 6th inning comes and he never gets out of it. Once he gets to 75+ pitches, his stuff isn’t the same and he falls off drastically. This has been known for 3 years now and still true with Wake.
Vols had 3-1 lead going into the 7th inning. By time he got out of the inning he had given up 3 earned runs and Vols down 3-4. This the game that Anderson was suspended and Vitello left him in to long. Burns didn’t lose the game by himself, but him going longer than he’s capable of, sure didn’t help.

Sounds like a coaching decision to extend him backfired. Who’s in charge over there? Remind me

You are projecting because you are nervous TV bolts for Texas after Omaha
I am not nervous about Tony V leaving, anymore. In fact we had a conversation after the game and he told me himself not to believe the rumors about Texas. He flat out told the group I was in that he has no more desire for the Texas job as he did for the LSU job when he turned it down to stay at Tennessee. He also said rumors are gonna happen anytime you are successful and a “big job” comes open, and this is nothing more than rumors.
He genuinely loves Tennessee as well as his father. He has also built a monster at UT and is building his legacy. At Texas he’s jsut another winning coach that will never pass Augie. He’s getting a new stadium basically he helped design himself. And at Knoxville he has all the power in baseball and doesn’t answer to anyone anything baseball related.
He’s not leaving all that, wishful thinking though.

Just about everything you have said in this thread

Everything you have said has been rebutted, but you don't care because you're just a shitty troll

Just another falsehood, brought to you courtesy of BigDickRick and the Tennessee fanbase

That’s weird, he called me and told me he was interested in Texas. We’ve built a good relationship since he asked me to put him in contact with LSU about possibly taking over when PM retired. I told him I didn’t think it was a good fit and he understood.

It wasn’t like I was hanging out with him. He was addressing the group I was with like he always does. He is very respectful and will talk to anyone that’s around when you see him. He don’t try to hide or rush off. He is genuinely a great person just to talk to, rather it’s about baseball or not.

That’s cool you “know him personally”, but only time I talk to him is after a game or when I accidentally see him out in public. He makes himself available for hours after the games just like the players do if you you hang around long enough to talk to him after everything is over.
