Imagine losing 15 players to the NFL draft from a national championship team and coming back next year to clinch the East and be on the verge of another perfect regular season. Truly a phenomenal job of coaching. Kirby is elite.

BK and fat Josh are the other candidates, but their programs have losses.

There’s still games to play and these types of threads never ever backfire

Kirby can't be coach of the year.

Because recruiting isn't part of coaching.

I think Dan Mullen should win. Greatest offensive mind in the game.
The secrant told me so

Welcome to the world of lofty expectations. Huepel will probably win this year, even though what you’ve said is exactly right.

He should be a lock for it, but they’ll probably give it to the orange Oompa Loompa.

Smart has done a really good job these last few years. He’s not only getting the talent but hires good coordinators and has his teams maximizing talent. He’s basically the anti-Jimbo.

I could see either of the three you mentioned getting the COTY. They’ve all had really great seasons.

Don’t break your arm Pat yourself on the back. Question is Georgia the worst winners or the worst losers??

Because that's not how these awards go. The coach who had an outlier season gets it.

BK and Fat Josh have significantly less talented rosters than bowl cut. Kirby is elite no doubt but, what the other two have done in year one and year two is nothing short of amazing.

Imagine taking over a team that played a bowl game with 39 scholarship players and started a WR at QB then winning the West in year 1 of a rebuild.

Gotta be worst winners. Vol fans have locked up worst losers by a country mile.

That would be Kelly then. Definitely outperformed expectations.

Could be. I just don't see them getting by UGA. And I don't see UT losing. 11-1 UT right on the verge of the playoffs or a 3 loss LSU team?

I think it'll be either one of them...I just personally think JH.

For some odd reason, the coach with the best team with the best record from the best conference rarely wins COTY, but usually wins the title.

They like to give it to coaches who unexpectedly accomplished a lot, even if it's not perfect, bc they did it with lesser talent on paper.

SEC Champ coach has won it last 5 of 6 years and 8 of last 15. Saban is the only Back to Back this century( 08-09 ). Kirby won it last year. So my guess is he’s got probably a 20% chance.
