I just checked and;

Saban, 1st Natty at age 52 (LSU), with 2 years out of CFB in the NFL

Kirby, 1st Natty at age 46 (UGA)

"So your saying there's a chance". :-)

Do you consider LSU (7 losses)as a part of that "gauntlet"?

Out of curiosity, who do you think was so great in the West outside of Alabama and Ole Miss. A&M lost 4 games (LSU-7 Losses and MState-5Losses among them) So, outside of a 3 loss Ole Miss, who populated that gauntlet?

Meanwhile, UGA loses less players to injury
You have no idea what you are talking about, do you?

Before the season began we lost:

Dom Blaylock (5* WR)
Arian Smith (fastest WR)
Kearis Jackson (4* WR)
George Pickens (5* WR)

All were injured before the first game. Some returned near the end but were not at full speed....and that was just the receivers.

We also lost Tykee Smith (Star/safety) who was to be a starter and late in the year lost Adam Anderson, who was thought to be a first round draft pick. Those were not the only ones, either. Christopher Smith starting safety missed chunks of the season with injuries (Got an INT in NCG)
Tate Ratledge starting OG went out for the season on the first series of the first game, Trezman Marshall and Rian Daivs (Both LBs) missed large arts of the season.

Jalen Kimber CB missed the NCG as well with a shoulder injury.

We played the vast majority of the season without two 5* receivers, a 5* edge rusher and a boatload of mid to high 4* defensive players.

Again...these were not all of the injuries, but crap. To say we have fewer injuries is dumb. Why make absolute statements about things when you have no idea what you are talking about?

meets the West champion (and even loses)

Seems like Alabama didn't even win their own division and won a championship, so this seems to be an odd take.

How can you be better than someone when you are 1-4 against them?

If the East continues to be a dumpster fire, it can happen - just like a mini-ACC schedule for Clemson. All while Bama (or LSU) face the gaunlet.

This one of the best "muh west"'s I have ever seen. Congratulations!

West was 10-4 vs the East this year. Gap probably widens some for 2022. It's a fair statement to say the East is on par with the ACC.

Brian Kelly has the chance to be better than Saban. So do I and so do you. Having the chance really isn't the important part of the equation.

I think it is very difficult for mortals to maintain the relentless pursuit that Saban has. UGA should be better than Bama by recruiting rights...so should LSU and FL. Kirby is a great recruiter who was tought program management by the master at a very young age. He should be very good for a very long time... but gravity and circumstances have a way of throwing curveballs at mere mortals and ultimately I think Kirbs is a mortal. I hope Bama ends up with a mortal like him when Saban departs.

it is on a rotating basis on which teams face each other from each division on a yearly basis (other than the every year matchups like UGA/AU), yes our bottom feeders like vandy and Mizzou are worse than the west but the east had 2 of the 3 best in the conference in UGA, Bammer and UK-, ole piss was hawt gaaaarbage

Why? Do state boundaries prevent players from attending schools outside of the state?

UK lost to Miss St. They were not the third best team in conference lol

Arkansas and Ole Miss were both better.

Gap widens in 2022.

So you neither see nor conceive of the advantages of in-state talent?

this isn't the 1990s. Georgia as a state has a lot of great talent but there's several things to note:

1) We can only sign 25. We can't get em all
2) Florida, FSU, SC, Clemson, Tenn, Bama, AU are all right next to GA. It's simply common sense that all those schools are goign to be able to come next door, some even as short as 20 minutes, and get talent
3) Georgia, or more specifically the Atlanta metro, is increasinly a transplant area. 18 yera olds here didn't grow up being UGA fans since a lot of them were born and raised somewhere else before their parents moved them here as a teenager.

Take all the above into account and it's pretty silly to think we should be better than alabama simply because recruiting services rank more kids higher in our state than theirs. It's kinda dumb, actually.

Indeed. In a world where UGA's season isn't riddled with injuries to skill players on the offense, we shouldn't even know who Brock Bowers and AD Mitchell were, other than true freshmen with tons of upside potential for the future.

Yeah. They point to the best teams of the East but I don't see it. Florida, UT, USC, Vandy, Missouri don't impress. And congrats to UK, I guess but that didn't hold long.

But don't tell that to any UGA fans. See they finally beat Bama. You know that team which was almost beaten by Auburn and was in a battle with teams hosted by a programs in dumpster fires... LSU and Florida.

Wait.... it gets better. Bama beat that Georgia team the first time, rather handily.

Congrats again to UGA. I look forward to you having more competitive games in the conference with that '#1' target on your back.

Then, come back and start talking more trash.

PS - Thanks to each and every one of you for correcting the spelling of gauntlet. You are fast becoming impressive like LSU fans.

No idea why you would even want this discussion with a coach who just won their first vs. Saban. Not really fair to Kirby, who put together a great team for this season.

Anything is possible, but let him win a couple before comparing him to the GOAT. Takes nothing away from what he accomplished, but this is laughable.
