Play was never there.

Yes...it was "there".The UGA special teams coaches obviously picked something up from the way LSU approached FG's in previous games.Nobody from LSU was playing off or in "safe" formation.Delpit sniffed it out and made the play.

Something about how the linemen set their blocks told Grant Delpit what he neeeded to know. Stand back, he thought to himself, and wait for the play.

What happened next was a momentum-shifting stop of a fake field goal attempt by Georgia in the first quarter of No. 13 LSU's eventual 36-16 home victory against the No. 2-ranked team in the country.

LSU led 3-0 at the time of Delpit's stop, and the Tigers followed it with a touchdown drive that went 84 yards and 12 plays.

"The line didn't really block like it usually does," Delpit said about the fourth-and-9 play from the LSU 14. "So I knew from out of the back end there was a fake coming. I just kind of stopped and backed up."

Special team players are taught now to watch a player instead of the kicker to prevent fakes.

If that's the case,no team would ever have a successful fake punt or FG and they work most of the time.

That's what O wanted Kirby to think.

Most over-rated coach and team in the country.

Are you serious? Delpit initially rushed the kicker, but immediately sniffed out the fake FG. It was a FG btw. He then turned his head to check to see if he had a DB in the backfield to stop a pass, after confirming he had help in the endzone, be immediately took an angle on and tackled the runner.

It was a stupid call On the road in Death Valley, you take the points. Instead he cost his team points and momentum on 4th and 9........

This. 4th and 2 and yea, you might consider it. But you knew points would be at a premium in this game going against LSU's defense so you take the points when you can get them with a short FG.

There was no indication points would be at a premium. Georgia had just trucked LSU down the field. This fake FG didn’t affect the game. The OC abondoning the running game and clock control is what did UGA in. They would have wore LSU down using Holyfield and Fields.

What I do not understand is why they put Blankenship in the position to get hit and risk injury. Boggles the mind.

Take the points on the road.

It's a pretty common fake FG play...Hell, UF ran a fake
punt with the punter runnin straight down the middle of the field. They obviously didn't think that Blankenship would get touched or he had enough room to get out of bounds.

The timing and distance were the 2 things that didn't make much sense.
