Lane will never grow up. He had a year to get ready for Bama plus the open date and what did he do. Run that mouth and burnt the popcorn.

He needs to put down the cellphone and spend all his time working on his team but that will never happen. The guy can't handle real success for very long.

Kiffin fits in perfectly with the Ole Miss fan base and seems to like Oxford.

I can't see Kiffin meshing with LSU culture or liking Baton Rouge.

Having to deal with Cajuns and their unreasonable expectations is really not worth it unless you walk in to a Saban built roster or stumble upon the anomalous 2019 roster and coaching staff. LSU fans are about to enter a “Georgia from 1981-2021” era and it might bring them back down to earth

Well said. It will be funny.

I’m not saying Kiffin doesn’t like Oxford but he was on a podcast down in Miami talking about how he misses that blue water and doesn’t mess with that brown water of lakes.

Even mentioned missing bigger city life.

I doubt he is at OM much longer and call me crazy but I could see him leaving for Miami.

Good coach can turn them into a winner again and that city fits him much better than Oxford

Zero chance Kiffin is leaving Ole Miss for Miami to compete against the likes of UVA, NC State, VT and GT. His ego would never allow him to go coach in the ACC.

Not saying he would but listening to him talk about missing the Florida life I could see it.

Much much much easier job than OM and actually would have a chance of winning his conference and a NC which he doesn’t have at OM and I’m not even trying to take a shot at OM when saying that

I’m not advocating for Kiffin necessarily but if the town a college resides in really meant anything to coaches, they’d all be fighting to coach at UCLA, USC, ASU, etc.

But....but....he knows how to social media, and that is all these youngsters care about. He is a good OC, when he has someone to direct him, but he is arrogant, unfocused and does not have the skills to manage a big time program.

This fascination with Kiffin baffles me. He's a good OC and maybe he's a good fit as a HC at schools where the ultimate goal is pull an upset once in a while and make good bowl games like Ole Miss, but I don't want him at LSU.

Raiders - dumpster fire
Tennessee - bailed after 1 year
USC - fired on the tarmac after letting ASU hang 60 on them
FAU - He actually did well here, but it's the CUSA
Ole Miss - He went 4-5 in the SEC last year and so far is 0-1

Jury is still out on how this Ole Miss season is going to go and I'll give him credit if it goes well, but the constant premature nuthugging of this guy is confusing, his head coaching career is largely unimpressive other than doing well in the mighty CUSA

A lot of the good will is how well he did offensively against Alabama last year. His team gave Alabama the biggest scare.

What's interesting is that he flat-out admitted it was because he knew all the things that worked well against Saban, played them to the hilt, and still lost by 2 scores. He tried something like that this year, and his offense didn't score a TD until Alabama already had 35 points.

It'll be interesting to see if he can truly adapt or not to running the whole thing.

TIFWIW, but I have heard (Lane's mailman's cousin's electrician type thing, so judge accordingly) that Lane and members of his staff weren't overly thrilled moving to Mississippi from Boca Raton. It wouldn't shock me if he took the U job. I wouldn't bet on it. But, I would bet the next job he takes will be in a more cosmopolitan location.
