The strength of his defense is the reason that Guz lasted so long

bullshite, the D caused as many problems the last three years as the Offense. Steele was able to look good against the MSUs, Ark and Ole Miss's of CF, but fell on his face against any good passing QB. Even Minn schooled him last year.

It's not that this would necessarily be a terrible hire. I've given up pretending I know who will make a good head coach. But who the hell pays a 21 million dollar buyout to hire from within? That's a psycho move.

Morris was approached but told them he preferred a few more years as a coordinator to learn on the job.

Beautiful.

Per what website? Every site I’m seeing has Freeze as the odds favorite. Where are you seeing Steele as the favorite?

Hugh Freeze +150
Billy Napier +300
Bill Clark +500
Mario Cristobal +700
Brent Venables/Tony Elliott +900
Bill O'Brien +1000
Jamey Chadwell +1200
Matt Campbell +1500
Steve Sarkisian +1800
Kevin Steele +2000
Lane Kiffin +2500
Mike Gundy +3000

No fricking way. Look on the bright side, no matter the coach, Auburn still finds a way to beat Bama.

Outside of that, I give him three years.

I don’t get it. What is the point? At first it seemed like maybe Auburn wanted to tread water with Steele for 1 year, but that makes no sense because Auburn is the best available job right now and it would be a complete gamble to hope for such a unique situation again.
