2016 is when I hope we can truly contend. I think most of our fanbase is looking at that year as a judgment year.
I think aTm's D will look a lot better in 2016.
It could turn around this year if yall have some guys step up. LSU always seems to have a guy step up who no one thought would d such a thing. Could be the Chavis effect, idk.

Just like 2013?
When we lost basically all of our impact players on that side of the ball?
No

Chavis came to A&M so that he could be paid more to do less. Deal with it.
We already dealt with it. We are fine with it.
It is LSU fans that aren't fine with us being fine.

Naw. Henderson and Mack are better and younger. A&M's defensive line will be better based in that trio alone for the next three seasons. That's not counting some of the other highly recruited guys progressing along no more than average as well. Linebackers, corners and safeties LSU will probably be more talented for the next two or three seasons but whem Chavis succeeds and Steele flops expect that to change quickly. And that's what you swamp kittens don't get. All it is going to take is Steele being pedestrian. If he is, your defense will be as well.

We'll see--unlike Snyder's situation, we will actually have decent depth from jump street for Chavis' tenure. Not elite level talent like his LSU years, but not big12 dregs, either.
I'm not hoping for anything other than a marginal improvement on that side of the ball for 2015. We're still very young/raw, so it remains to be seen what their production will be in year 1 of a new defensive philosophy.
I have much more confidence in Chavis coaching them up than Snyder, though. And I actually liked Snyder.

We need to build the talent at LB and CB and get deep on DL. I think we are set up pretty well at safety and we have the talent on the DL but need to have quality depth.
I like some of our young LBs and CBs a lot but missing on the guys like Jefferson Sheffield and Boyd might have set us back a little bit.

hey django I gave you some Mett history a page back so that you could inform yourself next time you'd like to discuss.
got a basketball game tonight, so I'll check back later. Let me know if you have any questions regarding LSU QBs, and I'll be sure to answer them upon my return.

That team also had Cam.
Are aggies referring to YPG when talking about top 40/50/whatever defenses?

Remember when Deshazor Everett was Pre-Season All-SEC? 6 months later and he's not even on the combine list

Did it work? I didn't watch much of the bowl game. Is it a downfield rushing attack or is it a motion/read option thing? I couldn't believe that most of the plays being called last year vs us were short screens and stuff. If they ran the ball right between the tackles you would've beaten LSU by 30.

Always.
What other metric is there?
Please not the god damn TOP that LSU fans obsess with.

One last response before I head out to go put my nuts on some kids heads at the YMCA...
Chavis was very lucky that he had Raymond on staff. As soon as he started getting NFL caliber corners plugged in, his defense was primed to dominate. He rarely had insanely good LB play. DL lacked a lot towards the last few years, but that is another deal.
Basically, Chavis isn't going to go out and land 5* guys left and right. He's not a big recruiter. He's not very sociable from what I can tell and is just not meant to be in living rooms like some other guys. But aTm will eventually land enough CB's (I agree safety is a strong point for yall) to see Chavis shine. And honestly, I look forward to it because I like watching good football.

It worked well vs WVU, it was more downhill with Carson, who's a bigger physical back. It was West Virginia though so who knows. Allen is a pretty good athlete but I don't think they will do a ton of read option stuff with him

While it is obviously not the measure of a successful/unsuccessful defense, you're kidding yourself if you think it doesn't matter.

A&M has yet to surpass 24 points vs LSU in the last 4 years. If you don't think that has anything to do with TOP, you're an Aggy.
