Any Razorback fans making the trip to Lexington?
This game used to be the balls. I look for 'lil Rotnei to put up some 3's, but he has to match up with Bledsoe (yikes!) I think Washington will have a good game.
Good luck, I wanted to post something decent before Kige or that other UK posted (not the girl) yucked up the board. Some people are all caught up in the #1 ranking thing, but I just want to win games for the NCAA Tourney seeding.
Take it easy on Pel

Arkansas sucks. I'd be surprised if this game wasn't over by halftime.. but then again, a lot of UK games have been over at halftime, only to have a major breakdown in the 2nd half.

Anyway, ya, this game used to be awesome. Now we just suck.
We are kinda like LSU football of the 90s. The potential is there, just dont have the right coaches and players yet. One day we will be back.

Man, Kentucky-Arkansas used to be a really big game in the mid 90s. Now, it's an afterthought.

I'll be surprised if we stay within 20.

Instead of asking what happened to Arkansas basketball, I'm going to ask it another way:
How was Nolan Richardson so successful? Was he a good floor coach ? Good motivator? I know he had some great players, so he must have been a good recruiter. Was he recruiting nationally?
If Arkansas has a good HS base to recruit from, then it's even more surprising that the Hogs haven't been able to get back to greatness. The basketball fan support and facilities there are top notch. I'm still looking forward to seeing a basketball game at Arkansas (football too).

He recruited Memphis heavily and it paid huge dividends. That's much tougher to achieve now with UT and Memphis improving their programs.

I miss this rivalry more than any for UK. The UK Arkansas basketball game was something to look forward to. Lately, it has been 2 bad teams. I really think you guys should bring in Mike Anderson and the 40 minutes of hell he learned from Nolan. That would make it interesting again.

Richardson was a great coach. But he didn't build Arkansas basketball. Eddie Sutton had already taken us to a final four and Nolan came in and just continued to build on that.
There is plenty of talent in Arkansas; problem is, our coach can't keep it in the state. James Anderson, AJ Walton, Fred Gulley, etc. And next years class will have 3 top 50 players all from Arkansas.
Everything is in place to be an elite program, which we were - but two horrible hires in a row have really killed us. Bottom line, we need to get rid of Pel and go after Anderson or ANYONE at this point. We have a 20,000 seat arena with tons of boxes...we can afford it. It's just time to open up the purse strings and hire someone to right this ship.

Possible legitimate candidates.
Anderson.
Turgeon
Scott Drew
Anthony Grant
Stretch candidates (meaining I give Arkansas a 0.000000000000001% chance of getting either one but I'd be very happy with either one).
Mark Few

Pretty accurate observations. I would add that Sutton had a very good program in place when Nolan came to Fayetteville. In fact, the program was in better shape when Nolan got to Fayetteville than when he left it. To be fair, Nolan appeared to be putting together a competative team when he opened his mouth and told us to pay him his money.

richardsons teams could play 13 men. 40 minutes of hell nothing but full court pressure.
My favorite quote from him.

I remember this use to be the game before the superbowl.

This game worries me a little.
Our perimeter defense has been suspect at best for a good portion of the season, and with a pure shooter like Rotnei Clarke, that's not a good thing.
Fortson is no John Wall or Eric Bledsoe, but he can cause some trouble as well. The same could be said for Washington.
