I don't know why Alabama fans are getting so pissy about this thread. This was a huge win for Kentucky.

I remember working over the weekend, listening to this game on the radio. I had every belief that Alabama would pull it out, but it just didn't happen.

Didn't Kentucky block a FG attempt and return it for a touchdown in this game?

And for the record, I was huge Couch fan when he was at UK.

I remember driving home from somewhere after that game and listening to DuBose talking with Doug Layton in the locker room. Layton asked him about an odd call Alabama ran in overtime and DuBose's response was "well, yea,Doug, I was surprised we ran that play as well." Wow.

Kind of a warmup for the Auburn game that year.

That was the year I was at Alabama and I still remember this even through my alcoholic haze. Mike Dubose was fricking terrible.

This one statement could describe his entire tenure at Alabama. Hell, even when he did know what plays we were running he didnt know what plays we were running.

I think he uttered the exact same line after the Ed Scissum fumble on 3rd down in the Auburn game.

Man, I remember that game. It was a classic, and being from Kentucky, the only time I ever actually felt energized and good after a Bama loss.

Kentucky completed that little pass in the flat all night long and Dubose made NO adjustments. Brilliant!

Friend of mine in Sunday School at the time was friends with Dabo Swinney's sister. Remember,Swinney (may be misspelling his name-apologies)was the coach who signaled in that play in Auburn. Guy said Swinney pleaded with Arians not to run that play and could not find DuBose anywhere --- remember,he didn't wear a headset in '97.Dabo finally gave up and called it to Kitchens.

I was there, and for UK it was a great game. Hadn't beating Bama in 75 years at that time as I recall. Of course, they don't play that often, but still a big deal.

Fans tore down the goal posts. I was kind of sad about that because Bama had a losing season that year as I recall. Such is the life of a UK fan.

That's a great story. Thanks for sharing.
