I understand not wanting to use it as an excuse but it's foolish to pretend it doesn't matter. It does. And it matters even more when your team has 1s that push you over into being better than you are collectively. That doesn't hurt teams that are stacked with 5*s but it's absolutely devastating to teams that have a few guys that account for a ton of production.
