Really gonna depend if he can recruit better at LSU than Notre Dame.

Notre Dame takes tradition so far that it's hurt them in recruiting the last few decades.

That won't hold LSU back.

I don't know that he will get better talent at LSU, but it's possible. And he's a really good coach. He was blown out in the playoff by a team that blew out Alabama the same year.

He was blown out last by a team that blew out OSU in the very next game.

I think some of you are taking him very lightly. Some of you are laughing at his top ten record when you don't even have a top ten team most years.

It's all about his offense. His defense will be good. But his offense he put out last year was 2009 Alabama.

It has always been about recruiting. His biggest issue is going to be that he’s now going head to head with Saban, Kirby, Jimbo, & Napier.

One of those 5 is basically going to finish no better than the equivalent of 5th place in the SEC every year.

Good luck, I guess.

Kelly's recruiting classes are usually top ten. Ed's weakness was never recruiting. It's a big reason he was on a lot of staffs. Moms and dads liked him. And he liked the moms as well.

I got the impression he was using what he could get. Like tight ends that aren’t real popular at most big programs now since he couldn’t get much speed. Strikes me as a culture guy not wedded to any particular offense. Might be wrong.

Elite recruiter in the south as an assistant. We’ll see if it translates when he’s the head guy and the logo doesn’t necessarily recruit itself. He’s landed some big ones in the past.

His talent will definitely be better. His competition in talent and rival coaches will be better. His exposure and expectations will be higher. He knows all that, the thing here is he's taking it all on and accepting it when he had it pretty well made

There's no question the guy can coach, he's gonna be a force in the SEC at minimum. He accepted the challenge but also the enormous payday. We'll see how much fire he has.

We shall. I agree with you that Kelly will flame out quickly if he can’t figure out how to recruit in the South.

More like two. Jimbo hasn’t had Jameis since 2013. I doubt coaches mark their calendars for the game against Jimbo

He was actually a head coach. Not a shrimp boat captain

You think napier will recruit better than LSU regardless of the coach? Thats quite interesting. LSU is almost never the less talented team on the field. Against Bama and just about nobody else

Have you ever been to South Bend? It's a shite hole. Not to mention you have to actually get into ND to play football for them in the first place. He practically recruited with 1 arm tied behind his back. It's quite remarkable when you think about how well he's recruited for them. Now imagine him in a talent rich state with the admission standards for athletes at LSU....sky's the limit.

He's taking it on b/c they are paying him $15 million a year. Period. End of story.
