Agree with this. People think a coach will make an immediate impact. Generally does not happen. First year HC's typically struggle and then things get better the second year and beyond. If CK is the new HC at Florida, look for them to struggle next year and then start to get better in 2019.

I keep seeing people say this but, has he ever had an SEC caliber defense?

If he doesn't wouldn't that make Florida Aggie East?

Are you comparing Kelly to Kevin Sumlin?

Yes....please hire him!

He will win as many National Championships as he did At Oregon.
And SUPERBOWLs at Philadelphia!
I hope Florida hires him...

This post reeks of fear and I'm no Florida fan.

Careful what you ask for. Kelly with elite recruits is dangerous

Agreed. He is an elite coach. LSU fans would love the hire if he were coming to Baton Rouge.

Mississippi state says they are better than lsu so Mississippi state will play chip kelly every year and lsu will play Kentucky.

His teams always got dominated by strong physical teams. It would be interesting to see if he could fix that problem

His problem was he got beaten by teams who recruited better than him.

That won't be a huge hurdle to recruit well enough at Florida.

Chip will make an impact next year, but it won't be until 2019 / 2020 that he'll be in full force.

McElwain should have been on the upswing. But we saw that wasn't happening.

Agreed. Takes coaches a year to get all the kinks worked out.

So can't wait for our first loss and "see he sucks".

UF is likely 9-3 next year or somewhere close. Should look much better by the end of the year.

2019 is when you see just how dangerous it will be.

He won't need four years. He already has talent to run his offense. Massey, Toney, Davis, and Cleveland all fit the bill for what he could use. Add in Scarlett and Callaway may be back..he could walk into a very loaded offense to get a pretty good start with.

I think a lot of people are getting to excited. He should turn the offense around in year 1 but it likely take atleast 2 maybe 3 years before the offense is good enough to be the best in the conference. We need a great recruiting staff on defense to have the depth needed to be in the field a lot .

I don't get why people get hung up on how great a recruiter a guy is. Unless you aren't trying, great recruits will come to Florida because it's Florida

So we should only hire a coach who has won championships? It's not that easy. When has LSU hired someone with championship experience?

When has he had the talent he would have at UF?

he had the #12 class in 2010, the #12 class in 2011, and the #14 class in 2012. It's not like Oregon was completely devoid of talent. That's as good or better than McElwain recruited the past few years. I don't know why people just assume Kelly will be able to recruit Florida with ease. He also doesn't know how to recruit or coach defense and has no ties to the southeast.

And RB's. If he hires a good DC that can recruit, UF is going to wreck shite.

Chip Kelly's brand of football isn't conducive to playing good defense. He would win a lot of games but most of them would have an over/under of about 70.
