I use Gimp. And I know enough about it to be able to remove a 1990's style white background, which is more than you apparently know how to do.

It's not a larger image; it's your image. I just opened your avatar full size and removed the white background. Just about any website can do that now, for free, in case you are lost using an image editor.
If you copy the image I posted and select it as an avatar, it will auto shrink to avatar size and you can use it.
