I honestly don't even recognize those Notre Dame names.

This offense is squarely in Sloan and Hankton's hands. They want the ball in playmakers hands. Nuss is light on his feet, and pretty fast, but he's not gonna rush for a 4th of what Daniels did last year. This offense is going to use TE and RB way more than last year.

Emery is good, but hasn't shown a lot of consistency. Williams will have his role in the offense, but I could easily see Jackson getting 15+ carries a game.

A couple big games and he could clear that 200/1000 mark.

I don't know about Earl Campbell, but he's probably the best RB we've had since Fournette, and he'll have the benefit of a real offense.

I'll admit we don't have a Billy Sims.

This has been said about many rbs. Then there was Herschel. Then Bo, etc.

Many others, as well, to include Henry who is breaking a lot of old Campbell franchise records.

That said, it's a lot of comparison to put on the kid who really hasn't proven anything on the field.

Maybe you are right, maybe not.

But, I came across these two old Bum Phillips quotes on Campbell that I thought were pretty classic:
(when asked about Oilers RB Earl Campbell's inability to finish a one-mile run in training camp) "When it's first and a mile, I won't give it to him."

(Asked about Earl Campbell) "I don't know if he's in a class by himself, but I do know that when that class gets together, it sure don't take long to call the roll."

Bum was a classic. On the flip side though, he shortened Earl's career. Absolutely ran him into the ground. Doubtful one will ever see an RB getting that many carries again.

Can he play defense?

Don't think defense will be as big of a problem as last year. Do think our OL will spring 50 and 60 yard runs for our rb corps at Will. BK has shored up our lines better than I anticipated going into year 3. It showed last year, it will show this year.

LOL, yea I appreciate Williams for all he's done. He was money vs Bama in Kelly's first season. That said, no one will compare him to Payton
You seriously missed the point

Preseason Heisman winners are always the best.

Nobody said heisman, but that's about on par for you.

Yet in the very first post.

Think Earl Campbell.

Care to guess what Earl Campbell did in college?

Campbell played college football for the Texas Longhorns, where he won the Heisman Trophy

Your problem Wade is that you just aren’t very intelligent. That really hurts you on an internet message board.

I didn't mention Heisman. Rb's don't win them often anymore because they don't get enough carries. Henry got it because Saban wanted him to win it. He deserved it.

No miss but your point about comparing Williams to Payton has the legs of a bowling ball.

You said he would be like Earl Campbell. Earl Campbell did win a Heisman and Earl Campbell is considered one of the ten best college running backs of all time.

That is why you are catching so much shite. To compare a guy most have never heard of who has 31 career carries to an all-time great is Tennessee level optimism. Or delusion.

In my expert opinion, it is simply hyperbole.

The guy has spent three pages doubling down that Kaleb Jackson will be as good as Earl Campbell. I sense that he believes it.

How many rb's get 267 carries in a season now days ?

Maybe for guys like you and I. However, he isn't a consensus top 10 of all time college rb. I've seen list with Cedric Benson and Ricky Williams ahead of him.

Meh this is kind of lame. Few ever heard of Marcus Allen behind Charles White. Same with Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas.
