It's mainly in the other direction. The reality is that way too many white Americans still refuse to acknowledge the racism that is baked in to America.
no, not really.
majority of white America would be absolutely willing to acknowledge it, and even discuss to come up with helpful solutions.
but the media blames damn near everything on racism.
so when real racism actually presents itself, it gets ignored.

The following lays it out pretty clearly. Racist practices were intentionally embedded and we are still suffering from the effects today..

Notice, too, the use of the phrase “baked in.”
Can’t take out something that’s already an integral part of the “dish.”
So I guess it all needs to be blown up, throw the cake into the trash, to continue the metaphor … or we’ll just have to live with it.

Denying the very real ongoing impact of 400 years of systemic racism is 100% real racism. And too many white Americans continue to deny that obvious truth. Read the article then tell us with what you disagree.

Nah. I never owned a slave. Thx though.

Question. Is it possible to be cured of my racism?

“Question. Is it possible to be cured of my racism?”
Probably not. You seem pretty committed to it.

It’s a serious question.
What can a white person do to no longer be racist?

ok.
the definition of racism in that article specifically states that only white people can be racist.
quote:
People of color is a term used to refer to African Americans, American Indians/Alaska Natives, Asian Americans, Latinos/Hispanics, and Native Hawaiians/other Pacific Islanders. Racism is the relegation of people of color to inferior status and treatment based on unfounded beliefs about innate inferiority, as well as unjust treatment and oppression of people of color, whether intended or not.

Except that it doesn’t say that. Racism is defined as “the relegation of people of color to inferior status and treatment based on unfounded beliefs about innate inferiority, as well as unjust treatment and oppression of people of color, whether intended or not.” The act of being racist is not limited to one race in this article. The object of racism is stated as “people of color” defined as you presented. White people have never been collectively discriminated against by the institutions listed in the article. People of color demonstrably have been.

Can an individual who is not white be racist towards an individual who is white?
Posted on 2/9/23 at 7:18 pm to Imber
You are right. We should. BUT, I don’t get it. I’m in my 60s and never have got it. This thread started about Mahmoud Abdul Rauf and somehow made him a bad guy. The man has no history of legal problems, drug or alcohol issues, etc. He lived out his convictions based upon his beliefs. Harmed no one. But most white Americans viewed him as a bad guy. If you objectively read through this thread, you will see example after example of the embedded racism that exists. And is continuously denied. I don’t get it.
