Ref applied the rule correctly, but the rule is garbage.

Page FR-8

Apparently you aren't allowed to hit WR's who are:

quote:

The pass receiver whose concentration is on the ball

So hitting to dislodge the ball (like we saw with UGA vs. Okie St.) is now illegal. Now they have to wait until they know for sure whether the pass is caught or dropped, and then make a judgment call on whether they can hit the guy.

We are entering the era of touch football. Congratulations wimps. I guess the good thing to come out of this is that girls can now play the game.

That was such a shitty call. Dude laid the wood. I don't think that would be called by SEC refs.

Does anyone realize it was called on number 18 for giving the throat slash after the play. If the stupid arse announcers would pay the frick attention to the game they might get something right for a change.

It was for personal foul for unnecessary roughness.

The "throat slash" is called unsportsmanlike conduct for taunting.

You are quite wrong, actually.

I don't think so you could see the reply thats why all the flags came in after all at once personal foul unsportsmanlike like conduct plus the penalty was called on number 18

It was a personal foul for unnecessary roughness.

They tried a make-up call later against Okie State.

It was NOT for taunting.

which is where I'm tiring to make my point the announcers got it wrong because the ref clearly said number 18 not 9 then they automatically started speculating and cut the ref out before he finished. number 9 made the hit 18 made the jesture then the flags

for looking it up. I've spent 10 pages trying to tell a bunch of Tards it, according to the rules and philosophy, was a good call.

quote:

Yes it is

quote:

Not so.

DB's can still hit receivers, just can't go "headhunting".

Same play in any conference, including the SEC, will get the same flag....period.

umm, arrakis, I would love to know how you or any other ref is going to determine "intent"... One hits a receiver as hard as you can to ensure the pass is dropped- see Evans in the first quarter. If you don't like it, don't play.

It is a bullshite rule, plain and simple that makes playing the Safety position damn near impossible as just about every receiver will be concentrating on catching the ball and thus be in a "defenseless" position. I sincerely hope the safeties start running through the refs and make the excuse, "well, I was trying to avoid unnecessary roughness on the defenseless receiver."

it ain't the rule that's wrong, it was the call. the ball was on the receivers hand and if no DB was there he was fixin to catch it. go look at a replay. that ball was gonna fall into the receiver's lap. if that was an illegal hit, then make it illegal for receivers to jump or stretch out for the ball.

You aren't reading. A hit "like that" is the key. Nobody said you can't hit a receiver to dislodge the ball.

If they want to end their college career, go for it.

well Rolando McClain got away with shoving a ref while arguing last night with nothing bit a 15 yarder. Obviously, who you are has alot to do with how a game in called, but we all know that already.
