Nobody said you can't hit a receiver to dislodge the ball. One hits a receiver as hard as you can to ensure the pass is dropped

That's what the guy for UGA was attempting to do.

When he started towards the WR, he had no idea the pass was going to be incomplete. His head was down, and his shoulder set, before the ball tipped off the WR's hand.

The call was valid, based on the rule.

The rule is what is bullshite.

I sincerely hope the safeties start running through the refs and make the excuse, "well, I was trying to avoid unnecessary roughness on the defenseless receiver."

I hope the safeties start letting WR's catch balls over the middle, then arm tackling them.

It would kill the sport.

Before long, WR's are going to get 1 yard cushions like punt returners.

Ignorant? Just the opposite. Anyone who watches college football can see what is there. Known CBs get away with PI all the time- it is called tight coverage. Top OTs hold as much as anyone else, but they also get away with it more often.

Having watched SEC football for years, the best officiating crew one can hope for is one that misses calls equally against both teams while keeping their ego in check and avoid becoming the story of the game instead of seeking it.
