I can do the research, I don't care to do so in this case regarding Alabama. The fellow that said about digging into numbers more can do that research for his state if he wants to. I posted the link to an earlier Bama poster regarding median per capita income for all states for year end 2022.
You need to read the context of my post in light of the earlier post referenced above with the per capita median income links.

Now, you get up to areas North of Alexandria LA, you will find folks more similar in family history, ideology, culture and religion, etc as you people over in Alabama, MS, etc.
You could make a good argument to add the Florida Parishes.

Grew up in Baton Rouge, my family is from SW Louisiana. It's a bit different over that way but some of that core is still there since so much of that area was settled by the same folks that went through the same things. It may even be a bit more mixed over there other than in NOLA itself - Hwy 190 (my dividing line) swings awfully far south on that side of the state.

Florida parishes, save Washington parish and Northern Tangipahoa
Went to school in Hammond and it was like a whole different world. People and things get squirrelly as you go north on 55 between Hammond and Memphis.

across the rural south in GA/AL/MS/TN, you will see it immediately
I'd highly recommend this book by one of my history professors at Southeastern. I'm confident you would enjoy it - if you haven't already read it.

Is this Frank guy that MFER. Well he is the lowest form of human shi...t on this site. I thought he was banned from here. I use to call him the President of the Metro New Orleans sidewalk alum association of Alabama football.
I don't like the Gump fans at all but at least 95% of them here are either from Alabama or either alums (small group of the 95%).

Ok Frank Thomas = CajunBama:
I am going to try to keep it civil and within the bounds of decorum here.
You are from the New Orleans area (live in Metairie). Would it be fair to assume you attended maybe Archbishop Rummel HS?
Regardless I have asked you this before, did you actually attend the University of Alabama (which I will say is a very good school). And let me say, not going to University is not the end. Too many kids are enticed to go to College and get degrees with the word "Studies" in it , gender, intersectionality, any of the alphabet soup letters and add studies to it. The result, crap loads of debt and degrees that lead to no job resulting in a bunch of 20 year olds on social media screaming about everything.
So I don't want to come off as an elitist here, lots of people should not go to University but rather get 2 year associate or trade school degree and go be a plumber, electrician, someone that can repair walls with mold and paint, etc. Having had to do repairs on my home, those fellows make a damn good living.
So assuming you did not attend Alabama, you are not from there, why Alabama? Is it, and I am asking, was your family old Tulane fans and since they got out of the SEC and eventually LSU and them stopped playing you vicariously root for Bama with Saban as coach because you know he is going to more often than not beat LSU?
In all seriousness what gives here?

Thanks for the post, that book looks real interesting. Yes, Hammond was kind of the dividing line although the areas between Hammond and Amite also has large numbers of Italian immigrants who settled there around 1920, those that were farmers and worked in agriculture and did not wish to work in New Orleans in Manufacturing or Port related industries, etc. But yes, Hammond was kind of the last area of what would be considered South Louisiana in the Florida parishes and everything along what is now I-10 through Saint Tammany. Today of course Saint Tammany is just an extension of New Orleans in reality in terms of the people, the accents, the culture, food, etc.
Again, thanks for the link

The guy thinks giving the board a history lesson on the immigrants to New Orleans, the Catholic League, and South Louisiana in general as an indirect and passive aggressive way of saying “I’m better than you” because we have some different immigrants than other parts of the south is one of the greatest melts of all.
You hit the nail on the head.

No he didn't hit the nail on the head. I already made that point earlier but I will repeat it again. I never said anything about better than anything or anyone. Because I sure in the hell am not. I just highlighted the differences between where I grew up and the culture, history, etc New Orleans and south LA relative to rest of the south.
Never said anything about being better, just different views on many levels and the predominate views, culture, historical lens by which people where you live view things are different from mine.
Nothing more and nothing less.
