Well, it’s easy to understand your disdain for the Grantland Rice trophy, seeing as your team got passed over twice, in’58 and ‘03 for Iowa and USC respectively those years.
Hence, those infamous “ FUSC” window stickers your classy fan base paraded around on their vehicles after the ‘03 season( and yeah, I already know FWAA vacated a winner after the fact, due to NCAA investigation at USC , and no, they STILL didn’t bother to award it to LA State).
Btw, there were 4 polls in 1964, not two. Further, in that era,FWAA was very highly regarded at the time, because they DID put weight and merit on the Bowl results.All the top teams squared off in the major bowls, providing another setting to better measure a true champion.
I mean how can you be a true national champion while ending a season on a losing note? That flys in the face of reason.

Your program hasn’t played a major NY6 Bowl in 17 years?! And that’s a 2001 Peach Bowl, which historically speaking wasn’t even relevant. It’s only been in past 6-7 years that the Bowl committee acknowledged and elevated its status.
I’m not even gonna waste any more time pointing out the GLARING historic gap between these two programs, it’s a track meet. Go shoot some free throws and pretend your Jordan from ‘83 or something and revel in your basketball school glory.
