quote:“faggy” was was already in use and considered too generic a term, given the additional oddities contained in the a&m universe
One of the main sources for my theory: The proliferation of the term "aggy"
That word goes back decades on sip message boards.
It was barely, if ever used outside of those echo chambers and now it's a household term on the Rant
think of it as a geographical marker

Nobody goes after Vandy or Mississippi State on here with any sort of venom. Texas A&M receives collective venom.
Vandy and Mississippi State fans don’t come in here acting like they better than what their record shows.
A&M consistently overpromises and talks a lot of shite only to underdeliver. I mean it’s so common that there’s a name for it (BAS).
Maybe if you guys were more realistic with your takes and your bravado, there wouldn't be as much venom.

My theory: Longhorn internet chatboys have been successful in swaying thought one way against A&M on here.
What a soft take. I’m sure tRant has dragged the aggy name since you guys have joined. It’s always someone else’s fault. You guys do enough on your own to create disdain from others. You’re the only football team in the SEC with male cheerleaders and grass holier than art thou. tRant didn’t just realize these things that make you guys different since the Horns joined the SEC
All of this to say Texas is in the same spot as A&M, Texas just has been winning more since joining the SEC so once Texas crashes and burns, you’ll see that venom directed to Texas as well.

Josh Pate is a fan of every team and believes every program is on the cusp of greatness.
No idea how people continue tuning into the program

Pate tries to be fair and for the most part gives teams the benefit of the doubt *until* he can't. He's a fan of SEC football in general.
He's about as fair as you're gonna get in modern sports journalism.

I'm not losing any sleep over it, just calling it like I see it.
Now run back to Twitter and tweet some fire emojis at HS football recruits.

I don’t even know who the guy is, I just laugh when people get upset over what talking heads say. Quit being such a weak minded bitch and get over it

Because they’re low key and chill for the most part.

Because most of yall are retarded figs, and the minute you win a game, unbearably arrogant as well.
No bueno.

I don't see this arrogance. Most Aggie fans have BAS and never expect to win big.
A couple of loudmouths on a random message board doesn't equate to overall arrogance.

WTF is this trash thread? You Texas people are fricking weirdos.

I didn’t really follow recruiting as well but as long as I’ve heard about Bobby Burton, he’s always been a reporter for the Longhorns and just had a nationwide casting of the net. I don’t think he’s ever shied away from that or disputed where his biases lie.
I personally like Josh Pate. I think his takes on aggy could be influenced by money but to me it’s probably about viewship. He understands that fanbase and by talking up the aggys what that could mean in his fans and followers.
He’s bullish on them and has a right to be. A&M is a sleeping giant with the resources you have. Just need the right coach. I don’t know if that is Elko, I know Elko is a damn good coordinator and defensive playcaller and coach, I’m just not convinced he’s going to give A&M the results they want in the time that they want it.

TBH, I don’t have any issues with Burton per se. He didn’t make any secret of it. And I don’t disagree with your take. Elko needs to make fantastic coordinator hires in order to win big.
I just thought the OP needed some perspective when asking about journalistic integrity and relationships.

Thanks for adding to the conversation. Considering 90% of your posts are either anti-Texas or baseball related; I’m assuming your bias is Pate levels against the horns right now.

Academy is a huge retailer in Houston, which is obviously in Aggies backyard.
Academy is huge in Dallas, so I'm lost..

No doubt. Everyone is getting paid by someone whether that be someone above them or the public in general.
I love listening to Josh Pate. Makes it really easy to understand where his opinions are coming from and seems like a good guy.

The Aggies are to blame for their unpopularity. Texas had nothing to do with it. They were still stinking up the Big 12 when your schools reputation was sealed here.
The Aggies bought their way into the SEC, spent something like 30 mil for a recruiting class - when it was illegal - that did zip and bragged non stop about how rich they were and that they were going to run the conference. They seem to have finally figured it out that no one likes them, rues the day they were allowed into SEC and wishes they would move to the SunBelt.
Texas is now trying the same tactics. Buying a lot of big time hype, throwing money around like confetti, and acting like they are in charge. And just like A&M it’s gonna take time before they realize that no one envies them and no one is afraid of them. They will learn soon enough that they will not be making the rules or running the SEC. Horns down!
