Maybe if he'd been more focused on film than he was extorting more money to play amateur football, he'd have performed better.
Usually the guys who are super focused on NIL, don't really pan out.

Man, this whole thing is pretty wild. Can’t believe how much CFB has changed since I was a kid- and I’m a pretty young guy.

Sat Out Playoff Game
Based on how the game went, it appears that the entire Vol roster sat out.

Pate was saying this back during the playoffs but didn't name teams. I got the feeling though it was both Georgia and Tennessee.
Sadly, that felt like Carson Beck's M.O the whole season, and would speak volumes about his performance.
Nitro Tuggle and Damon Wilson.

Imagine the next step from this: a kid holding out towards the end of the season when you have a shot a the playoffs
Why not Trot off the field on third and 7 if you are starting offensive line?
All 5 just leave the field?
Tell Coach, need more money or we are not going back in.
Opt out during a play.
Switch teams during a play.
“The Tide’s Johnson breaks free through the Tiger defense. At the 35, green grass ahead. He’s at the 20, 15, sack of cash dropped at the 2. Johnson fumbles through the end zone and trots to the visitors bench with a sack of cash.”

What's amazing is how the NCAA is doing absolutely nothing to stop stuff like this. This isn't the NFL where they renegotiate contracts in a league where they have no problem asking you to take pay cuts.

I don't know anything about Prichard AL, but I don't see some hack uncle/agent from Ensley even having the balls to do that.
Because the gamble is that the school calls his bluff, and now the uncle/agent has to answer why his client/nephew sat out the Iron Bowl back in the hood. It would make for a great episode of The First 48.
The thing is, they wouldn’t blame the kid and the uncle for trying to get theirs. They would blame the school and rich boosters for not paying them. They might murder someone over it, but it wouldn’t be the player or the uncle.

Perfectly stated.
